Thanks guys Griefbringer it's 102 horse and just under 200 foot in this set up. With regards to the photography you would not believe how many photos I have to take to get a few decent ones, I am terrible! |

That is a lot of work. How will you follow that up? I can see an attempt at modelling all of Palmanova. |

That's a very nice army! I love how colorful it looks with all the banners, the red gun carriages, etc. Perry miniatures don't look out of place in such an early date. I had never seen that banner with the Malatesta's checkers and stripes and no heads, it looks very nice. This is a great inspiration for my "Wolf of Rimini" project! |

Thanks! I had drawn a similar flag and a standard using checkers, the 3 heads and the "S" motif, but the elephant, the flower and the vine are new to me. As soon as I get to finish my flags I'll post some pictures. I'll check your blog for inspiration. |

hi Pentaro, Without checking references the elephant is one of the heraldic badges/crest used by the Malatesta and the S interlaced with the I is the badge of Sigismondo Malatesta and his wife Isotta. The S and rose flags were taken from a near contemporary image of the siege of Piombino 1448 when Sigismondo was in command of the besieging army. There are several other variations of the S and rose flag depicted in the image. The flag with the heads is the heraldic arms of Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta and be seen carved into various sources from the period. Have a look at this site ran by Massimo Predonzani who as well as being a top bloke really knows his stuff when it comes to the Condottieri: stemmieimprese.it and there's also bits and bobs on my blog that you might find useful: link good luck with your 'wolf of rimini' project and i hope post some pictures when you're done. cheers Pete |
