Does anyone know whether the old 25mm line of Limeys and Slimeys figure line is still in production? I am looking at doing some naval skirmish gaming this year and recall liking the figures. I am looking for generic sailors, and am leaning toward the Napoleonic era. Are there any good sites showing suitable figures? Suggestions from the field are welcome. I am a East Coast, US based gamer. CB |

The thing about the old Minifig 25mm L&S figures is that they're 'true' 25mm figures, about half the size of modern 28mm. No seriously, they're notably smaller even than later 25s like Rafm or Frontier or current 25mm Minifigs; they're not much bigger than modern 1/72, but they're just enough bigger not to match (sigh). Old Reviresco and Pass of the North (1st generation Frontier) figures are the only ones I've found to really match these first generation 25mm Minifigs. If you're interested in buying any of these second-hand
I have a metric shed ton of them painted to a good standard, and a bag or five unpainted. I could be persuaded to thin the herd. Email me off-board, zippy-at-fuse-dot-net, if you want to discuss. |

There were the old RAFM line in true 25. I am not sure if they're being made or not. |

Didn't know they came in 25's. When I bought my L&S ships many years ago, they came with 15mm crews. Would like to see some pics of those guys. P. |

If you don't mind the bigger ranges, Foundry has some really nice Napoleonic Naval figures. Steve Barber, Old Glory and Brigade games also make some. |

Yeah, the only Limeys & Slimeys I know of are 15mm. |

Could be I've mis-named early Minifigs 25mm as "L&S" figs. We played L&S in 25mm, and Minifigs published the rules. The early Minifigs 25mm sailors I have a Long John Silver pirates, not Naps at all. Rafm had a line of Nap sailors in a bigger 25mm scale. I'll post some scans when I have more time. |

The only limeys and Slimeys that I have ever seen and played were 15mm. I still have the old pirate fortress from the line and I think about half dozen of the ships from that line and bunch of the figures, all unpainted. I picked up the figures years ago at a garage sale. When Tom Dye took over the Minifig line in the US, all that stuff went to Chris Vondenstock (sp) of Outland Games. The only thing that I knew he did was again in 15mm. He did some stuff in foam and then went to casting the ships in a black resin. |

I should also mention that if you want to do pirates and such in 25mm, Old Glory has a very good selection of ships, pirates and some naval crews. oldglory25s.com |

Yea, Old Glory for 25mm figs. There's a great new range out, from Spain, of 18mm figs, which look superb. Can't recall the name of the company now, but they are for the Napoleonic era, sculpts look incredible, and they have free, downloadable boarding action rules, and two-dimensional ship deckplans too. Worth a look trolling through the message archives for those, or waiting for someone else to post their name. |

@ Miniatueships, "Ole pirate fortress", I have to go dig up my old Minifig L & S catalog and check it out
maybe still available somewhere. All my navel games are with 15mm L & S, but all my on shore/land games are with 25mm figures. Yes, OG25s has an excellent line. I think I eventually bought all their packs with the exception of those guys climbing and the natives in the boats. Great stuff!!! P. |

I sold the fortress pieces to Fine Art Mannequins in Broomfield, Co. as well as the ships. Yes, for a while, he was producing them for us in expanded foam and resin. There were also some figures Minifigs USA had from Wargames Foundry in 25mm (the "slimmer" ones mentioned, but we never produced them since we could not ascertain if GFI would retain the rights to offer them. The 25mm pirates were never asked for so we went with Mr. Higgs' excellent 15mm range to reintroduce L&S with. The idea was to revisit a few of the excellent Beer and Pretzel rules for those times when you and your buddies only had a couple of hours to play. The titles set the stage with the likes of "What's your Beef, Wellington?"; "Fritzkreig", "L&S", etc. I think there still is a market for such products since having a "fun" game with minimum brain strain never goes out of style! |

I bought some 25mm foam/resin ships for L&S. They were made back in the early to mid 80's. They were sold under the Greenfield Garrisons name by Greenfield Hobby dist. of Royal Oak, MI. They were promoted with Minifigs. I think at the time there was some connection between Greenfield and Minifigs. |
