Alternative Armies have an offer on the classic set of 25mm/28mm Fantasy Barbarians from the former Asgard range. These vintage 1980's miniatures are all characters and the set of 12 can be had in a value pack with a 20% saving for the next week.
For full details and images of all the miniatures please visit our new blog: link These are great white metal miniatures brought back from the vaults of wargaming history. You can also get them as singles too. Thanks for Reading. Gavin Syme (GBS) alternative-armies.com |

Hi Gavin they look cool. Any idea how they compare in size to the old copplestone grenadier barbarians ? Phil |

Hello Phil, No. Sorry. I do not have those miniatures to hand. But I can tell you that these were big for the 1980's and they are really 28mm scale. BP12 Hax Ragged, centre of the above image with axe, is 32mm to top of head. GBS alternative-armies.com |

I'd say they fit well with the Copplestone sculpted barbarians. I have both. Saw on the newsletter that AA are bringing back some of the other TTG fantasy in 2014 too. Which is absolutely fantastic news! Especially if that includes the Asgard orcs! Can't wait! |

Viking Forge here in the US sells them as well for $1.75 USD a figure, for those of us over here. link |

Just stumbled on this thread and will try to resurrect it/follow it up if I may for any kind of update. I'd echo the words of Earther above regarding the Asgard Orcs – and here I assume we are talking about the Jes Goodwin sculpted range – definately from the early 80s era (As discussed/pictured here – link ) rather than earlier Asgard stuff from the 70s? I'd love to get hold of a load of these again as I'd personally rate them as certainly some of, if not THE, best and most characterful Orcs/Goblins ever released. A sweeping claim maybe but they really were stunning to behold. I had quite a few back in the day as a teenager which I purchased direct from the third Asgard shop they had (near the Train Station – tho' I'm ancient enough to have been through the doors of both the High Pavement and Commerce Square premises too in the very late 70s
yikes!). Sadly my figures have been lost somewhere down the years. Aaah, heady days
but enough misty-eyed recollections
I do appreciate Viking Forge offer these over in the US and have been considering placing an order with them but I confess buying from across the pond is a bit of a hassle and we get knobbled for taxes and import duty (if you order in bulk) when the stuff arrives in the UK. So, any chance these might be on the cards in the UK? Regards. Mark |
