Hey all, I'm looking for a well sculpted, detailed miniature that would pass for a good 40K naval captain. I want to do a rogue trader conversion and need someone in a frock coat, knee high boots etc, something like this: link link |

The Imperial Advisor in the middle fits the bill: link and maybe Ursarkar Creed himself: link |

I'm trying to stay away from GW for this and a couple of other figures so they stand out a little. |

Hasslefree has some awesome minis! Andreah, john or godwin would fit the bill as a great start! I also found this one I like: link |

Black Scorpion has some really nice figures in 28mm in just the genre you're looking for. I own some of the privateers, the Governor, some of the Marines, and quite a few of the rogues. Nice figs, easy to paint. link |

Not entirely as you describe, but the various "Doctor Who" minis from Heresy might work rather well |

Consider some of the cheap individual Napoleonic and American Civil War command sprues from Perry Miniatures as a basis for conversion. In particular, the Napoleonic Russian and Confederate ones have good bits. Good heads with peaked caps can be found on any WW2 German sprue (Perry, Warlord and Wargames Factory all have some). If you know anyone who is doing Bolt Action or other 28mm WW2 rules in German, they almost certainly will have spare heads. |
