The Cromwell Museum in Huntingdon is under threat of closure. The Museum, which was set up in 1962, is earmarked for closure from the end of 2014. The Friends of the Cromwell Museum are determined to prevent this if at all possible.

Check the info on their site … see 'what you can do' … consider signing the petition if you want to help

A lot of effort went into establishing the Museum – it would be a pity to see it closed as a result of council budget cuts …

Done! – Oliver Cromwell was a great cavalry commander, and a man after my own heart in many ways, I feel anything supporting his memory is worth doing.

Done – otherwise I shall have no reason whatsoever to visit huntingdon in future ;-)

Done and signed Mercurius.
A museum remembering a person who helped write an important chapter in British history is threatened with closure.
Only in this country!!

I would be most grateful if the museum survives! Warts and all.

Maybe we will have helped …

Heritage doesn't always do so well when budget problems are uppermost … but budget problems are hopefully temporary, the past is permanent – it is good that people care about it

Merry Christmas one and all (whatever the Lord Protector's views on such merry making might have been wink)

What are the propsed plans for the museum once it has been saved?
It might be an idea to think of a sustainable methodlogy for the collection rather than the site itself.

I pressume the Friends group has developed a forward plan or simlar?

At a yearly adverage of 11,000 visitors (education figures are a disaster – 2009 figs)it might be a more viable idea to centralise all Cambridge collections under one roof. Collections are better cared for and posts are more sustainable?
