today i sat down and spent 5 or 6 hours making fairly detailed map of the Electorate of Lustigzollern – Großgesaß.

Did you really need 45 layers for the end result?

yes it did, but only because every place name is in it's own layer. i can easily remove or replace ant single name that way.

if you were to raster and combine all the place name it might only take 17-18 layers.
