Sources for generic 54mm plastic civies?

I'm thinking of generic types, with and without weapons, to supplement many periods (especially Boxer Rebellion)

Haven't actually seen the Americana/BMC "Union Prisoners" figures from their Andersonville playset (what a lovely idea, BTW, I'm sure a SS Death Camp set is on the drawing boards as well?) but if they are at all accurate, they could be any poeriod ragged or casually clothed civies, maybe?

AIP Boers are perfect for armed civies!

Still looking for others

These might be too expensive for your taste, and they may be made out of resin, not plastic, but the "Christmas Town" sets from Lemax and others can sometimes have great figures for mid-late 19th century. They're often marked way down for after Christmas sales. Just a thought!

Anybody looking to civilians from Victorian to Modern should take Lord Arundel's advice and look at the Lemax ranges. They do some splendid individual figures as well as pairs and small groups. Yes, they are resin not plastic but so what – they are cheap especial when 'on sale' and they are painted. OK, some of the painting is a bit garish but knocked back with a wash (eg Army Painter) they are transformed.

Also worth looking out for are the various Zombie sets which have come out recently – just restore some of the decay with modelling putty! And some will definitely need a head swap!

A while back a Buffy The Vampire Slayer chess set came out – well worth looking out for (I managed to pick up 2 recently) for modern civilians (and for conversion to Zombies!)

Also worth looking at – especially for Boxer Uprising civilian volunteers are 2 other AIP sets – Egyptian Infantry and Spanish American War Spanish. One is in a very simple uniform with little equipment, making then useful as a basis of conversions (easier to add bits than take them away) and the others uniform of jacket and trousers (pants) is also very civilian looking, though they have more in the way of kit – but excellent heads in slouch hats.

Will do, Mike!
