"This book contains all the rules you'll need to simulate a skirmish-level battle between two enemy armies. Assault Platoon uses a unique and innovative system to simulate simultaneous actions and reactions that allows you to interrupt or anticipate your enemy's moves. Assault platoon is a new dimension in miniature-wargaming where realism and simple rules are perfectly balanced. The whole game-system is based on adding and subtracting six-sided dice. Fast, easy to learn and historically accurate."

"Fast, easy to learn and historically accurate."
Rather big claim – would be interested in some player reviews

Can any WW2 skirmish rules truly lay claim to being ' historically accurate ' ?

maverickv09 Dec 2013 4:17 a.m. PST

We try to be most "historical accurate" can be possible…

Ascent09 Dec 2013 6:06 a.m. PST

Which begs the question "does anyone actually try to be historically inacurate".

"Operation Squad" is a good game (although it require a lot of adding and sustracing pips on the dice rolls) but doesn´t handle well weapon teams and the vehicle rules are a complete mess.

I´m curious about this new ruleset but i have my doubts…

Accurate Skirmish Rules=. Make all layers wear galvanized steel pails on their heads which the referee bangs periodically with a 2x4.

maverickv09 Dec 2013 7:53 a.m. PST

If you play without master you should accept some inaccuracy… also because you see the position of the enemy models…
I think there are a lot of way for keep the game "historical". Anyone like one. I suggest to try this system. As always someone can like it other not. It's normal. None of us like the same woman (apart some exception). Regarding rules for weapon teams and vehicles, we have changed a lot in order to keep the rules simple and effective. In Platoon you play normally with around 40 figures and 5/6 vehicles without problems. The normal game is around 2 hours.

I liked the action/reaction system in Operation Squad and hope that it translates well into this platoon level game from the same authors.

Before I delve further, I'm interested to hear any feedback, reviews of 'Assault Platoon' ruleset.

Cheers

Looks like 'historically accurate' means actual TOE.

Does anyone have lists for early war armies? Particularly Italian.
