Looks like the Chinese are just getting started in their Air Defense Identification Zone claims, which is sure to annoy others in the region, and create the possibility of air and naval skirmishes with other countries too:

Lots of good fodder for dogfights, and more, in the region with the Chinese.

I do hope those new Tumbling Dice 1/600th modern jets get released soon, and that someone produces more Chinese and Japanese jets in 1/300th as well, in metal. The selections in the larger scale are a bit limited.

At the very least, I'd like to see the Chinese J-10, and Japanese F1.

The F-22 and Chinese stealth jets would be nice too, just for grins.

I've resorted to printed counters of some of the Chinese aircraft, as many are completely unavailable, except for the Soviet-clones.

Its strange, we started collecting and gaming the current Pacific…. and now things are more active than ever in that region. Strange timing…

You could probably get away with using a 1/285 F16 as a JASDF F2 with 1/300 F16s.

I think someone is going to have to drag the Chinese to the table about this (I'd prefer to NOT have a shooting war anywhere but on my gaming table, thank you very much).

Just drag them to a gaming table. More fun for all.

If you're willing to game in 1/144, Trumpeter makes a plastic F-8 II.

Might be worth a look on Shapeways. There's a lot of guys making decent models of modern aircraft there in a variety of scales.

DM is correct.Prarie Hawk Gamers does the F10,J11,J20 and J31.Pricey,but probably our only hope in 1/285(1/300).To my knowledge,no Japanese around(strange). They also so S.Korean/
Indian.Lots of 1/2400-1/3000 warships for every power in the region.

China's air defense zone: The shape of things to come?

"China's announcement of an air defense identification zone (AIDZ) that covers substantial portions of the East China Sea has unleashed a storm of concern among China's neighbors — as well as in the United States.

For China's action reflects the deeper challenge now posed by its growing military capability and international activism. Vice President Joe Biden was on solid ground when he objected strenuously to this new air defense zone during his recent trip to the region.

Washington and Beijing each insists it wants to build a "new kind of major power relationship." If they are to succeed, however, and enhance peace and stability across the region, they must develop new strategies to manage their growing tensions…"
