The Wargames Illustrated announcement got me thinking. I also found Miniture Wargames on the ipad. Anyone try these out? Thoughts? How does access to back issues work? Free or paid? What happens when your subscription runs out? Do you keep access to the digital copies you already purchased?

I didn't find two much info on the respective websites. Hiding it must be.

A sub to Miniature Wargames give you access to all the magazines going back to 2010 (I think). And the best thing is that you don't have to pay upfront – just get billed every month when it is available.
Just downloaded WI yesterday and there is no access to past issues and the sub is cheaper but in one hit, which is not convenient for me. I don't know if there is extra material if you take out a sub. I do like the ipad version though. the links to manufacturers in ads and ability to navigate via the contents page is really great.

Thanks for pointing that out, I always seem to miss the mag when I'm interested in an issue. I think I will be buying one online when there is something I am interested in.

you lose out on inserts I guess for wargaming, like the Saga stuff, but otherwise seems like a convenient way to access lots of info (and searchable too)

I have all three (WI, MW, and WSS) on my iPad and really like them. The big plus for me is the space I no long need to store the magazines.

You can store the issues on the iPad and back them up when you back up the device.

If you want to use the links and such in the issues you need to be connected to the internet. Not an issue as you can add book marks to the WI article or advertisement that you want to look at if you are not connected to the internet at the time you are reading.

Ended up buying MW. Access to 3x years of back issues was really nice. Not sure how I missed that first time. Must have been toddler wrangling.
