Hi,

Christmas is coming and I am going to do some product reviews at my blog. For starters, I have a look at 28mm buildings suitable for piratical settings:

Cheers,
Shandy

Interesting…can I suggest that you add Conflix and PMC to your list of prepainted buildings

I use these in both my Medieval and Pirate games

Where can you get PMC buildings from? Do they have a website?

WNT Blog07 Dec 2013 5:32 a.m. PST

Or you can make some yourself which is great fun, spanish inspired colony: link

Kind regards

PMC only sell on ebay – don't ask why – don't know?

Every so often they turn up – just search on 28mm Buildings – some folks have had issues but I have always found service to excellent

PS could not see any there at the moment

Thanks Eric, I am an avid follower of your blog, so I already know your fantastic layout ;-)
The doing yourself part works better with 15mm for me… 28mm is too unforgiving a scale for my mediocre skills.

A nice review.
May I suggest more photos, please?

Shandy, when I put together my 28mm pirate collection, I used buildings by Old Glory (H-04, H-07, and H-08) in combination with buildings from Miniature Building Authorities Spanish Main collection. You can see my pirate layout at warin15mm.com/Pirates.html

Caesar, hopefully I will include more photos next time! It's a hassle taking them with the bad light and my old camera…
War in 15mm, thanks, I never thought about Old Glory. I've recently discovered Hovels for 15mm, they look quite charming and the price is almost unbeatable (they have a distinct old school flavour, however, which I like but others might not…)

Oh, and War in 15mm: that's a magnificent collection you have!

Thank you. Pirates are fun stuff!

PMC occassionally do shows although I have only seen them at Partizan.

Hovels are hard to beat; we've got loads of them; they're cute, robust and they can be supplied ready-painted at a pretty good price.

For pirate games in the Caribbean context, I prefer Spanish style villages (these are mostly scratch-built):

Those are really nice…I also scratchbuilt my own adobe village for Pirates – just need to finish this one day

Very nice! I always have the firm resolve to do more scratchuilding, but then I tend to get lazy… however I discovered that 15mm is a much more forgiving scale, so some of my medieval stuff is scratch built.

Empress Miniatures makes some Spanish buildings for the SCW, that could do in a Caribbean Spanish town in the pirate era.

You can also make 1/56° DISNEYLAND Scratch building….

Funny to play….is'nt it ??
