So not sure if this has been posted here or not because I don't frequent this neighborhood on TMP often. However, I did pick up some nice 1/48th scale vehicles for bolt action today and figured others might be interested. The local shop had the sherman and the Panzer. They also have a patton but doesn't apply. At like $14 USD for a snap together kit they are not bad. Evidently Revel relesed these kits a long time ago and they reskinned them to be ugly. however a nice coat of primer and your back to a nice tank kit.

link They go together easy. I applied some Proweld to make them stay together :) I put the little wheels on the Panzer but I left them off the Sherman because I realized they are just to make the kit more "toy" like. Another HORRIBLE problem is the "toy" feature of the barrels moving up and down when you turn the turret. Easy fix. The part that holds the turret in place has little ridges on it. You need that piece but I just cut them off. It still moves a little bit because I didn't smooth them down but not enough for me to really care about. Good detail on them after you get past the nasty paint jobs. Oh and the side skirts pop on and off. Along with the turret skirt. Great for bolt action because I can take it with or without the skirts and they just click on and off. I figured others might be interested. |

The monster truck paint jobs are a put off. What scale are these? |

1/48th. A quick paint job fixes the nasty paint scheme. I don't have a pic of the Panzer primed yet. The sherman is drying. |

Side schurzen on that panzer are fitted wrong – they should not be scraping the ground

Oh I forgot to mention. They put the kit together wrong. In the packaging they swapped them to make it fit better but they are clearly labeled UP and fit correctly. |

I quite like those alternate paint schemes it's like a WWF wrestler has mated with a WW2 tank. |

The Sherman gun looks a bit thick
like it is a Sherman 105. Not a bad thing. They do paint up just fine. Like Number4 says above, the side skirts (not the turret though) look a little low. |

They do lack a bit of detail but with plenty of stowage they can I think be turned into decent models :) |

I got my start in the toy soldier/miniature figure war gaming when I was 11 back in 1947, and saw a set of Britains' Coldstream Guards, kneeling, firing. What a silly name! I save my allowance, then bought a book about the Guards full of black & white and color pictures. The rest is history, and a ton of lead! These garish paint jobs might attract other 11 year olds who can be encouraged to look on the internet to open their eyes to WWII!!!! GdeP |
