"Her name might not be in the title, but Wonder Woman is finally heading to the big screen in the Man of Steel follow-up Batman vs. Superman. Gal Gadot, who played former Mossad agent Gisele Harabo in the Fast and the Furious franchise, will star as the Amazon warrior (and her civilian alter-ego Diana Prince) opposite Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman.

It's been an ongoing challenge to get Wonder Woman on the big screen. While the other two-thirds of D.C.'s official Trinity, Batman and Superman, have both fronted multiple feature-film series, Wonder Woman has thus far been limited to the small screen…"

ming3105 Dec 2013 12:46 p.m. PST

SBminisguy05 Dec 2013 1:11 p.m. PST

Maybe this should be posted to the Needs More Boobies discussion group :)

Could work, we had plenty of people going "this will never work" only to say "it was the only logical choice" afterwards.

Feed her a sandwich. She hasn't gotten her amazon muscles yet.

Needs more than one sandwich. Still a lovely lady.

jpattern205 Dec 2013 2:31 p.m. PST

No rumor, she's been cast.

CmdrKiley05 Dec 2013 2:57 p.m. PST

I was kinda hoping for the actress that plays Sif in the Thor movies.

Tankrider05 Dec 2013 4:12 p.m. PST

Linda Carter +1

Since I can't stand superhero movies or TV shows, I don't really care.
She is however quite nice looking.

Ron W DuBray05 Dec 2013 5:17 p.m. PST

that's sad she has no anything, They should have at the very least got someone who has seen a gym if not spent some time in one.

Mithmee05 Dec 2013 11:26 p.m. PST

Way to flat chested and way to thin.

She needs to do some major building up of her body.

Here are two that would be far better.

Megan Gale

Okay you can add Jamie to the list.

I remember when people went ballistic when they announced that Sean Connery wasn't going to play Gandalf (McWho ?) and that they picked some Swedish guy to play Aragorn instead of the Mel "Born for the part" Mel Gibson …

And every single film is cast from the same 10-20 people over and over. Need a tall, scary looking guy ? Get X, need a sultry brunette ? pick Y and they rarely ever get casting right.

Therefore I take fancasting with this :

Gina Carano would've been awesome, realy liked her in Haywire.

mrinku08 Dec 2013 4:46 p.m. PST

Well, Megan Gale WAS offered the part five years ago but the project fell through. She's not really a fancasting one.

She'd have been superb, not saying anything against the new girl. Unfortunately she's also now 38, so I'm guessing the suits would be wary of casting her these days for a part that might stretch a decade. Unfair, but how it works.

The Wonder Woman we know.

as much as I wanted Gina Carano , seeing as she is Henry 'Man of Steel' Cavill's ex girlfriend , I cant see her working out.

I think Gal Gadot would work out , IF they give her a decent bodysuit design ala Batman and Superman , I dont think the Bikini look would suit Wonder Woman on the big screen.

PapaSync09 Dec 2013 11:30 a.m. PST

Season 2 WW has her in a better outfit. But imo this lady is NOT going to work out. Just like Aflick as Batman is going to suck. Carano would be my pick for she. at least she can to the physical work thats going to be require. Last film I saw her in she had some realy good moves. Not camera tricks.

mrinku09 Dec 2013 4:37 p.m. PST

To be fair, it's really going to come down to how they write WW. There have been quite a few different takes on her over the years. The current one is pretty much Sandman done with Olympians and Diana as part of the pantheon. But a somewhat naive, younger Diana would be fair enough, if they go in that direction.

Always liked the George Perez WW best.

I'd be expecting leggings with bare arms and shoulders in terms of costume, by the way. Something like the look for the 2011 TV pilot that failed to be picked up, maybe. Sexy, but not swimwear.

"But a somewhat naive, younger Diana would be fair enough, if they go in that direction."

This is Hollywood we are talking about and they can trash a storyline in a heartbeat.

They can also trash a movie just as fast.

Not sure about her acting chops, as I haven't seen her in anything. While she is quite attractive, though, she just doesn't look like someone who could punch a tank. Most of the recent WW comics portray her with a very athletic, if not down right muscular, physique. Unless they put her in a sculpted body suit like they did Batman and Superman, I just don't see how she can convey the strength of the character, visually.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes.

Mithmee11 Dec 2013 2:20 p.m. PST

Gina, Megan and Jamie from above could.

Gina would be very good since she does have the body for it.

CzarBLood17 Dec 2013 6:20 p.m. PST

'Just like Aflick as Batman is going to suck.' Have you seen the film yet?

mrinku20 Dec 2013 10:58 p.m. PST

Well, there is a difference between "she's going to suck" (which I don't think anyone has really said) and "I'd rather this woman had gotten the part" (which a few have said).

Personally I'm good with her not having a bodybuilder physique. You can be all fit and martial without pecs of steel and biceps the size of basketballs.

Guessing they will go with the modern weapon using version than the old "fists and lasso" one in any case, so lithe and deadly works.

Insomniac21 Dec 2013 12:46 a.m. PST

I think that for anyone over a certain age, Wonder Woman WAS Linda Carter and it is very difficult to associate the role with anyone else.

I also think it is a shame that the role-model 'amazon' should be played by a waif-like woman as I don't think it satisfies the 'amazon' criteria/stereotype and is a further example of the lean towards saturation of the media world with over thin actresses.

When I think of an amazon warrior I think of Xena or Red Sonja and they are nothing like the actress in the first post. Mind you… look what they did with CGI in the Captain America film… and there have been many occasions where actors/actresses have 'buffed-up' for a role.

As for whether she is worthy of the role… that is yet to be seen. She definitely has some big shoes to fill.
