Hi, All. I'm thinking of basing my AB 18mm infantry as for the LaSalle rules. I really like the close order, elbow to elbow look.

Up until now i"ve been painting for a client who had everything done as for Napoleon at War. I really like the plastic bases included with these figures.

2 Questions:

Do think the LaSalle basing will inhibit the sale of figures in the future?

Do you know of anyone who makes plastic bases for the LaSalle rules. I sure can't anybody on the web. I guess the next best would be the Litko plywood bases.

Thanks for your input!

John

I base all my figures on mount board. Cheap, and you can cut it to the sizes you want.

Lasalle doesn't have a real standard, they have suggestions.
The illustrations in the rules has either 2 stands of Napoleon's Battles/Shako style bases thrown together or they have the 40mm wide stands. They are close enough in width that a few mm don't matter.

A lot of companies make the 40mm wide stands as this size is used in DBX style ancients/medievals games. If you are wanting the more massed look, these are the stands to buy. I would look at either Litko or Renaissance ink. I am sure there are other good suppliers too.

If you want compatibility with NB and Shako, get the smaller stands and make your figure basing more dense. Lasalle battles by stands, not by number of figures. You can put more or less to your desire. NB and Shako do have a mandated number of figures per stand, so I would keep this in mind when deciding your final scheme.

Thanks, guys! Good advice – appreciate it.

Number of figures per stand doesn't matter for Shako, either.
Just base up whatever looks good and fits with your figure collection. Anywhere from 4 to 8 figures per stand should be fine.
