Looking to do Salamis. I want to buy a large amount of Galleys and find that Navwar has them at more affordable prices for a large purchase. The problem is that no-one in the U.S. seems to deal in them. I checked their website and it doesn't seem any easier to order from it. Any suggestions on some 1/3000 Salamis style galley's that are cheap and easy to get? I like Xyston but more than I want to pay per galley. thanks NICK |

I would go the navwar route if I were you. If you donīt want to fax, you can just print up the form and send it in. It is decidedly old school, but the service is outstanding. I live in the Beautiful Czech Republic, and it is not unusual for navwar to have a faster turnaround time than some online companies from England. |

I was going to suggest the Tumbling Dice 1/2400 galleys – I have some and they are pretty good minis. link They're actually somewhat more expensive than Navwar, though (2.40 Pounds for 2 triremes vs 1.50 for 2 triremes), and are smaller models. Tumbling Dice has discounted 'navy acks' for Greeks and Persians, and an online cart, but I think even then they're more expensive. I have ordered from Navwar too and their service was quite good, despite the old school mail-in system. You'd probably be happy either way. Sounds like a cool project, in any case. |

Bit of a ditto to that – The Tumbling Dice are nice, but they are half the size of Navwar's. Navwar also do 12 pack "fleets" for £15.00 GBP ( link ) which is ~22ships depending on the fleet chosen. |

Some great ideas but even then there are still isues with the onines sites :) Any idea how large the 1/3600 scale galleys are? The tumbling Dice site is almost as bad as Navwar. There is no description of how many ships are in a starter pack and there is no way to contact them. I clicked on the email link and it is dead. I think that if these companies spent a little money to have someone work up a basic site with some pics and basic information they would have better sales. I think both ideas are worth pursuing. I am working on a "great naval battle of history" set of games. I have WW1 and 2 covered along with a Pearl Harbor game. Our group has the GHQ Trafalger ships and thinking of trying the Armada. I have some ships for Tsushima picked out to buy soon as well. |

Navwar don't want to go 'modern' – the owner is quite positive (or negative, depending on your POV) about that and accepts that he could do more business if he got to be IT literate and e-freindly, he just doesn't want to do it. Tumbling Dice have an owner who does not have the skills/time to make a website and prefers to spend his time expanding ranges. Sadly the people he has trusted to help with this aspect of the business seem to have been less than reliable. TD ships have a bit more 'style' than Navwar and are 1/2400th against 1/1200th of Navwar but their trieres are not much smaller. Differences in size between the different classes is less that Navwar (probably historically correct to some extent but not what most people expect). I have both and would happily reccommend either. The e-mail address is as given on the website AFAIK but somebody has cocked up the link. |

Oh, forgot to say that the 1/3600 galleys are roughly 10mm long for the smallest type if I remember and 20mm for the largest. |

You can always go with Roman Seas, but those are 1/300 and you have to build them out of cardstock. |

Oh, forgot to say that the 1/3600 galleys are roughly 10mm long for the smallest type if I remember and 20mm for the largest. That's pretty small ! Still, they sell 25 vessels for £3.00 GBP or £4.00 GBP – so Salamis won't break the bank ! |

Lots of suggestions. Gildas, I copied the link for the TD website and sent him and email and had a great response from the TD owner when I came to work this morning. I think I might have to break down and use smail mail for NAVWAR simply because of the cost issue and the amount of Triremes I am going to need. thanks for all the help! |

Navarr I didn't think you'd be disapointed with the response from TD, they have always been very good to deal with for me. |

Xyston are nice – but much bigger and not cheap. Langton – anything from Langton is beautiful. The boats are beautiful. The scenery is beautiful. The aeroplanes are beautiful. Even the rules are beautiful. But – for all that beauty you will need deep pockets. |
