With the idea of creating a series of small "learning scenarios" to introduce a new player to the complex subtleties of the Battlefront WWII rules, I put together a small (4' square) tabletop representing the dense hedgerow country in Normandy. Non-historical, the scenario is a basic "seize the bridge" scenario with a small reconnaissance component built in as an excuse to get my much-loved but often neglected armoured cars onto the table top. This Part 1, with the second instalment to be posted once we play it!

Here are a few photos from the game so far:
The objective (bridge and village) as seen from the hill north of the village.
One of the recce Staghounds is brewed up by a lurking Marder.
German engineers arrive to prepare the bridge for demolition.
Motor company arrives in support of Staghounds and gets sitrep from surviving Staghound. (G-g-g-g-germans! Bridge! Boom!)
Motor company splits into two flanking attacks, one moving to sunken road bordering river.
Situation at end of first session, with second attack going in through fields of tall crops to the left, where they encounter a dug in German platoon. German fire from a 20mm flak and heavy machinegun keep the right flank attack pinned, but that may soon change as the attackers bring pressure to bear.
One of four demolitions has been successfully laid on the bridge.
