This was 3D printed. True it is pretty big, but making them smaller can't be that much harder. I wonder how long it will be before we're buying files instead of miniatures.

I guess I'll know when I'm out of a job painting them.

We live in a marvelous day when we can wargame with strange meme characters on our tabletops.

He's missing his cane in the left hand though; makes him look like a kung-fu fighter!

FDM will never create a miniature worth gaming with. SLS and UV Resin will never be cheap enough to be cost effective. Plus that figure looks "ok" in the picture but I have seen full color SLS (which this is) in person and they are fuzzy for lack of a better term. Textured might be more accurate and muted colors. Cool yes but we should be more excited about the cost of plastic production coming down. Maybe the metal printing methods will improve and reduce costs enough to be used in injection molding. They will still need a lot of polishing and finishing but it has promise.

Is that … the OFM?

looks like a missing finger too on the right.

Its not a case of not being able to do a wargame figure now but being able to do them at a reasonable price and a durable medium.

As a designer and manufacturer I always find the glee with which some people declare these 3D printers will mean the end of designers/manufacturers slightly disturbing………maybe its all the years of paying GW prices have led some to view the potential replacement of talent, skill and above artistry as a good thing. 3 ups are bad enough as it is lol
Cant imagine any machine matching the beauty of a Tom Mier or Tony Barton sculpt.
Doesn't effect me I'll be out of things in a few years ( or sooner if the casting room heater ain't fixed)
