I'm a game manufacturer and we're looking into printing fantasy miniatures out of paper or clear plastic, and we'll need to purchase bases in bulk to use with these.

I'm thinking round, 25mm, clear, slotted bases. The cardstock / plastic could be folded in half and stuck right into the slotting to stand up.

I've also seen bases using a method where two thin parts of plastic stick up from the base and "hold" the paper/plastic in place. If this had small grippers on it, this would be reasonable as well, but I don't even know the conventional name for this type of base, and it seems like it would be more expensive.

Any suggestions where I could buy this type of base?

Litko's bases are acrylic and I'm going to guess they will be too exepensive for this kind of venture, but worth asking.

Gale Force 9 make the kind of base you want in black – worth asking if they could do it in clear.

Check on Alibaba – you can find stuff like that there.

You could also try Renedra in the UK – they do the casting for the Perry Miniatures line. They could probably tool up whatever you needed.

Talk to these guys:
dice.co.uk

They are essentially:

They have the molds available and just would need to run a different plastic through it. They do bulk orders.

Just my two cents for the clear figures…
I have several clear plastic figures that I mounted on 1" diameter circular mirrors from the crafts store.
at about $ .10 a piece retail, they are probably too expensive for mass supply, but they might make a nice "upgrade" offer for the clear figures.
The effect is amazing; no more do my clear figures reffract the dark base up from under them; they are clear from head to base.
Just sharing, in case it's of any use.

em4Miniatures do clear, round plastic card stands (20mm, made to grip card) which might be of interest – I bought some at Warfare just to use as clear bases …

Mail the sales team at dice.co.uk for the trade prices, they are essentially the part of the company who do production, em4 does consumer sales…
