Here is almost done S-Tank tank. The model is NOT FINISHED!
I wanted to finish it 2 weeks ago, but I haven't modeled anything due to my illness.

I am currently finalizing the model and adding missing details, so be ready for further updates with lots of changes. Maybe I'll modify the visors a bit.

And we are available for pre-order enquiries…

SirFjodin22 Nov 2013 5:28 a.m. PST

I REALLY want to press on and finish model really soon.

GeoffQRF22 Nov 2013 5:37 a.m. PST

Chas keeps trying to get the early Lanchester slotted in the middle. I've told him he has to wait :-)

Armiesarmy22 Nov 2013 5:42 a.m. PST

Very impressive

SirFjodin22 Nov 2013 5:46 a.m. PST

2 GeoffQRF, really hope that he wont wait to long! :)

2 ArmiesArmy, thanx. This vehicle have some tricky parts, because Swedes covered each spare square meter of it with lots of details. And I need to model each detail :)

Awesome! Really shame that this baby was never adopted by anybody else but swedes themself, but at least after this is in production I hope we are one step closer to that point where "cold war gone hot" scenarios can be fought on some other theatre than fulda :)

Lion in the Stars22 Nov 2013 9:44 a.m. PST

Eeeeeeeexceeeeeeellent.

Can't wait to get my 'Coldest War' up and running! Still need the Pbv302s, though!

Mako1122 Nov 2013 10:10 a.m. PST

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.

I hope that changes soon.

Looks like a very nice vehicle.

Can't wait for it, and some Swedish, and WARPAC troops (East Germans, Poles, etc.) in 15mm, to go along with the Russians.

We can blow up a couple of balloons and stick them to the bottom.

Back to modeling again. Yesterday progress.

For today, I am working on adding and polishing small details.

SirFjodin27 Nov 2013 5:40 a.m. PST

And more to follow :)

OK, Good news is that I finished tank. Bad news, I lost file due to USB storage device failure.

Another good news, all previous step-by-step files were saved on other drive, so I managed 98% restore the tank today. Hope to finish it tomorrow.

Here are 2 renders variants. BTW I changed visors proportions a bit.

That sucks about the USB drive, but I'm thrilled that you managed to save most of it!

Geoff, I am (sadly) unable to fund anything right this second, but I am SOLIDLY committed to 14 of these as soon as funds come available.

SirFjodin05 Dec 2013 11:30 p.m. PST

I usually have copy of files on several drives, to prevent the loss. I just forgot to copy fiished file to other drives ;)

bang on!

Will the wheel/track assembly be a separate piece in the finished model? The reason I ask is that it would be really cool to be able to model the Strv 103 with the gun depressed for firing from hull-down. That could be achieved simply by producing an alternative set of wheel/track assemblies with the suspension in a different position.

Its done. For the rendering purposes only (to show the model) I removed optional elements like dozer blades, flotation device and 2 rear storage containers. I will make a render shot with all optional elements soon.

There will be many parts to ensure the quality of details after casting in metal (due to complexity of the tank) like hull, Gun, gun holder, several hull elemnets, tracks, flotation device, HMG, etc…

I like your idea about tracks :)

GeoffQRF12 Dec 2013 3:41 a.m. PST

Looking good. We might well be able to cast the gun and gun holder as one piece.

The alternative tracks is a nice idea, but not sure how preactical it would be as your tank would be permanently aiming up or down as it moved about the table.

Rare earth magnets are a gamers best friend, if possible , have the recesses for the magnets cast into the master model, saves a load of drilling time for the end user. Lovely model of a bizarre concept btw

JeremyDowd16 Dec 2013 8:12 a.m. PST

Geoff, it wouldn't necessarily need to be modelled at maximum depression, just enough to make it obvious, and small variations in pitch would be natural in undulating terrain.

Also, I base my models, so I would build up the front of the base to represent a tank scrape or a low bank, and the barrel would still be near the horizontal.

The alternative firing position might also appeal to collectors. A unique take on modelling a unique fighting machine!
