Dear All,
Yesterday the Wollongong Wargamers had a hoofing game of Longstreet, this time having a bash at the River Crossing scenario. A really enjoyable game, with the card action really adding to the fun, enhancing the period feel, all without detracting from the tactics. And I made a discovery late in life – apparently Confederate Regiments sometimes carried more that one Colour, such as State flags – My Rebs are set to get even more colourful! The good Kaptain Kobold posted an account on his blog: link |

We played a river crossing in Longstreet too
. Three thoughts: First, remember that fords can be placed as a terrain place as a replacement for a terrain card. Second, it is smart of defenders to dig in. Lastly, as a defender you might consider setting up not right at the river edge, but rather at musket range away, thus forcing the attacker to cross the ford under fire, only able to attack with a single unit at a fime and. maybe even stopping in the ford (disruptive terrain) to fire. |

Btw, love those Rebs, especially the LA boys! |

The group I play with rejected Longstreet because we could not see how card decks would work with multiplayer's. How did you do it? |

"And I made a discovery late in life – apparently Confederate Regiments sometimes carried more that one Colour, such as State flags – My Rebs are set to get even more colorful!" I've deliberately exaggerated mine, so that every CS regiment has two flags, just because the state flags are often so cool. "The group I play with rejected Longstreet because we could not see how card decks would work with multiplayer's. How did you do it?" Presumably by using the multi-player rules in Chapter 11? Are they just trying to do it from the free "Lite" version? The full game is certainly playable for any number of players on a side. |

Well actually for this game, as we had a couple of players arriving late, and one of them a Longstreet virgin to boot, we played using only one deck per side, whereas really you should have one deck per Brigade, with the CinC deciding the use of interrupts. But for our needs one pack per side worked well, and our newbie got a grasp of the rules scarily fast (Law student!) and actually the card interplay worked really well. But we have played a multiplayer game using two sets of cards on each side per Chapter 11 as Sam advises, with no problems at all
And although we do have a set of the free cards that a kind soul not only downloaded and printed off, but also covered in plastic (above and beyond!) we do now have plenty of the proper card sets. And for any Aussies reading this; Eureka have now recieved their second shipment of Longstreet gear. |

"Eureka have now recieved their second shipment of Longstreet gear." Third shipment, if I'm not mistaken. I've been pleasantly astounded by the popularity of the ACW down under. I had no idea so many of you guys were into that war. |

I find that multi-player spices up the card action. Now, do I play this card against Tom because he is the greatest threat, or against John because I just don't like him |

I had no idea so many of you guys were into that war. As a newcomer to Oz I was quite surprised myself. I'm primarily a Napoleonics tragic, but when in Rome
I think the 150th has raised awareness, but from what was already quite a high base. And of course the Perry plastics help! At our Uni club, I suspect like many other, we have one guy, Caesar, who drives our Longstreet project and carries us all along with him. But this week's game was a real thriller and I'm sure Longstreet has reached critical mass with us now
