Anyone know where I can find a 28mm Dwarf miniature with a morningstar? Note: by morningstar, I mean a flail-ish weapon, like this:
Some folks refer to a mace with a spiky ball on the end as a Morningstar, but I want one with a chain. As a guy who has butt-loads of Dwarf miniatures, I am having a really hard time finding one armed with this weapon, and it vexes me. Manufacturer is unimportant, as long as it's 28mm. And yes, I know I can buy a weapon pack and convert a miniature, but I'm hoping to avoid that. Thanks in advance for any help! |

Denizen Miniatutes ( denizenminiatures.co.uk ) . Look for D12 or D18. These are the same miniatures that were carry by Ral Partha ( imports ) in the 80's and still among my favorite dwarf figs. Few of the figs are pictures but check the gallery for some samples. |

Chronopia dwarf range had some models (Dark Tusk clan Darkstar warriors?) with two-handed morning stars, but those tend to be a bit different in style from traditional dwarves. If you have spare GW plastic dwarf somewhere, then the converting route (from chaos marauders or Fireforge knights) should be pretty straightforward. |

Some folks refer to a mace with a spiky ball on the end as a Morningstar, but I want one with a chain. That's the correct usage in historical terms. As far as I know, TSR or someone else in the mid 20th century got it all confused. It's been a very long time since I've seen a mini maker advertise a flail as a morning star. They may advertise it as a ball and chain to be clear though. So, I'd suggest using those for search terms first. |

I've searched in the Mithril range, but don't find (because he don't exist !) a Dwarf with Morningstar
I've noticed that they use the term "Morningstar" for a Troll: M48:
but it's not the model with the chain
(I've this very rare figure and I can say that he's very impressive !) |

Thanks to all. I wasn't even aware of the Denizen range. I'm thinking more and more that it's going to be a conversion. While I like the Denizen range a lot, I would prefer a dwarf without a face-obscuring helmet. Not a fan of the Chronopia stuff for this reason too. The Marauder dwarf is cool, but I'd prefer a one-headed flail and converting it might be harder than a simple weapon swap. I'm fussy, I know. But this dwarf is supposed to represent one of my MERP characters from my youth. |

mace= stick with a heavy ball/thingy on end. morning star= stick with a heavy ball/thingy on end with spikes. a heavy ball thingy on the end of a chain is not a 'mace', but a 'ball and chain' (or a 'flail', esp. with multiple chains) This leaves a heavy ball on the end of a chain with spikes undefined, but semantics would place this closer to a morning star than a mace (because it has spikes). A warhammer with spikes on the end of a chain is a 'gobsmakspinktenflaler'

You'd be surprised how often it comes up in conversation. |
