I have a NOOK, but I also have the Kindle app and tonnes of cloud storage (avail) on Amazon. Question: There is no option on Kindle library management to slam a book into my cloud storage in order to free up space on my NOOK. Is this universal, no matter which tablet you use or, if I bought a Kindle I could tuck stuff away in the Cloud
at least until the Neil Degrasse Tyson Non-Zombie Apocalypse occurs? |

My Kindle can do this sort of. I can stor PDFs and the like on Amazon (up to 5 Gig I think) and then free up space via my desktop on my Kindle. That's about all you can do (I think). |

If you go to your library in your Kindle app it should show you three options. 1. All items 2.Downloaded items and 3 archived items. Select 1. You should see the covers of the books you for Kindle. Some of the books may display an arrow inside a cloud. These books will be listed as archived and are in the cloud. Books without that symbol are on your Kindle Select a book without calling it up. Go to File at the top of the page and click on it. You should see a selection that says Remove from Device. That should put the book in the cloud. To access that book again look under 3. Archived items. Let me know if it works for you. |

If you bought the book from Amazon you can just archive it and then redownload it from Amazon when you want it. I do this with the kindle reader on my Android tablet. For non Amazon stuff I use calibre and keep copies on my PC. Could copy to cloud from there. Chris |

Okay, Thanks Guise
I'll check it out again when I go to the library next week. I did futtz around with my Cloud and the App options, just didn't see the link, but will go through more thoroughly next time. Appreciated! Now that I think about it, I did see the "Remove from" button, but I had it in mind that it would permanently delete the book. When I go to the library I'll download one of those 20 page jobbies and then explore the "Remove from Device" button
I mean, afterall

Depending upon what model nook, some (unlike kindles) allow for extra memory to be added in the form of a smart card. Sadly, this is not treated the same as organic memory, but is very useful for putting files onto a nook. It is one of the places where nook trumps kindle. Especially when putting non B+N/Amazon books on the device. Like public domain stuff or pdfs. But both the nook and kindle concepts are that if you buy items from them, they will store the purchases 'forever' so you can drop them from the device to free up space, and reload if you ever want to. I find I have a few million horrible terrible zombie/apocalypse books I have gotten for free that are so bad I am embarrassed to have them linked to my account. They just sit there in my kindle files, but at least on nook ones I can move them to a shelf labeled "horrible fiction" |

Jgawne, Yeah, I purchased a smart card for my Nook(s) and put all of my Word docs and Archive.org/Google Free books on it to clear up space. I guess I just took a wrong turn at "Albookoikee" when it came to looking at what I could do w/my Kindle books. |
