Having broken the back of the ACW, and having enough to game with (Ok, so I need to add some cavalry I suppose) my attention turns once again to ECW in 10mm I have some already, and plan to start paintingbuying the rest. My question is What's an average size for a RoF army? Part of the reason is so I can plan the storage – Really Useful Boxes with the 15 compartment hobby trays. 1 compartment hold 4 bases foot, 3 of cavalry (deeper base). Can I get away with a 4l 2 tray box? I am painting units generically, 4 musket 2 pike, so I can mix/match any period of the wars (50% red, 30-40% Blue, rest mix of green, white, orange, yellow) |

Well it really depends on which army you are raising. New Model Army or Montroses'hooligans are much smaller than the earlier armies. FWIW my Parliamentarian forces usually take the field with 5 regiments of foote organsised as you suggest with 4-6 units of cavalry all of four bases. Guns are less important but there are usually at least one light and one medium. Occaisionally I have fielded a force of all conscripts which makes for a much bigger force but it is very, very brittle although lots of fun. |
