DBA 3 has 17 types of area terrain (2.2 had 8). Six of these are the new Rough Going type. The Hamlet has some special aspects, and Plough is randomly Rough or Good. The others are Enclosure, Rocky, Boggy, and Scrubby. It seems to me that it will be a pain for players with a number of armies to carry around so many different unique terrain pieces.

I have made some base templates and have bags with "toppings." Maybe terrain makers would consider something of the same. Offer a HERBS set. 3-4 templates of a couple sizes and then bags of the toppings for Hamlet (houses), Enclosure (hedges, fences, ditches), Rocky (various size stones), Boggy (bog vegetation, a water pool), and Scrubby (assorted bushes), All together DBA HERBS . Maybe include piece of ploughed field for a Plough. The houses for Hamlet could be a couple north European and a couple Mediterranean styles. Here is a picture of what I have done. Now easy to carry around 6 types of terrain in a small box, or bag, no suitcase needed. By the way the really frugal gamer will just make a few templates with some labels as there is no difference in all these different types except the Hamlet is a BUA. Gully is a new bad going but Marsh, Woods and Hills remain.

That is an excellent idea – nice balance between visual appeal and practical necessities.

I think it is clever as well.

Brilliant Bob, you should get a patent!

Perhaps a list of suppliers of DBA friendly terrain would prove useful, I know I would love a set of handsome terrain to replace my horrors.

Haha, funny!

I myself go for such templates, and small round elements, 5-7cm in diameter. These elements can be trees, shrubs, rocks etc, can be used in one type or combinations.

This is a very clever idea. Nicely done. 17 types of terrain! Building those the conventional way is going to be a lot of work. Finished the terrain for my Nubians last year and that took several weekends to get it all looking nice. I am beginning to feel more concern about the new 3.0 than excitement.
