If you were going to cast your own dollies/armatures, what is the highest temperature that metal would need to resist in the mold-making process? Jeff |

if you use these low temp silicone moulds then about 90 deg. i have vulcanised resin, plastic and metal parts in low temp silicone with no problems. if using the black organic moulds then about twice that temp if i remember rightly. can you vulcanise it yourself or are you looking to get someone else to do it? shaun |

I'm just looking to drop cast dollies for myself (to help keep all my proprtions in line, and save a bit of time). I assume you're using celcius, Shaun? So the armature for a sculpt in black organic molds would need to have a melt temp in excess of 180c to be viable? |

i have seen moulds made in black from whiote metal masters and as the melting point for what a lot of us use is higher than the rubber vulcanising point you should be ok. the trouble with drop casting is getting it in all of the extremities. good luck |
