"UK - Gaming groups near altrincham?" Topic

o I'll be moving to Altrincham shortly for work. Does anyone know of any gaming groups in the area?

There may be some in Altrincham (I'm based in Stockport) but these guys are not far away near me and there is a well stocked shop there as well as I discovered the other day….

@Stranger83 Hi Paul, Where you moving from? Odd place to move to for work?

I was born and used to live in Altrincham, a place with some historic interest for wargamers particularly from a GW slant, but I digress. My mate still lives close by in Baguley.

There was a few years back, a gaming shop on Moss Lane near the crossroads with Stamford New Road and Cross Street. They use to run a gaming club. There is also a GW shop at 19 Grafton Street I would also enquire within there as they will know of any local gaming clubs.

If you want anymore info. please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks everyone, I'll give the GW a try and see what they suggest. I did see MAWS, it's about a 30 min drive from where I'll be working so it is possible, but the wrong side of Manchester (presuming that I have the right postcodes

Bits of allsorts, both 40k and fantasy. DZC, hail caesar , just started up bolt action. Got a lot of board games too. Just open to playing – I'll try anything

Paul, If you want any recommendations about best places to live in the Alty (Altrincham) area drop me a line off board at trajanic AT gmail DOT com there are some places to avoid ;)

MAWS is a great club and very friendly. You are about right for travel time but after the first visit, you should be able to do it in 20mins depending on what day and at what time you travel……I use to live in Worsley about a 12 years decade ago….

IIRC the MAWS were running WAB tourny's a long while back so you should find some opponents for Hail Caesar, hopefully, one of the MAWS members will pop on here to give further info….
