"OK Corral in HotT" Topic

I have become quite interested in pursuing the gunfight at the OK Corral in 15 MM using mostly the beautiful Blue Moon figures and the army list that Joel Gregory worked up for HotT. I do plan to make two changes to his list as I interpret a couple of things a little differently than he does, but otherwise I like his list a lot.

The changes I am making are to make Doc Holiday a Behemoth instead of a Dragon, and the Horde element to be John Clum and the Tombstone Citizens Safety Committee, instead of the Earp women.

I have all of the figures for the guys on foot, but still need to order an appropriate 28 MM figure for Doc, and am waiting for an order from 15MM.co.UK to come in for he needed mounted guys (couldn't see paying $35 USD for a large number of Blue Moon figures when I only need 8 for the army) And I think the ones I have coming will fit in nicely as I used some of them in my Dracula army as Gypsies and am aware of their size.

To better understand it I am currently reading "The Last Gunfight" by Jeff Guinn, and have picked up the Director's cut of Tombstone, plus have seen several other movies on the fight.

Should be a fun twist on HotT and a venture I am very much looking forward to.

Terry, sounds like great fun. HOTT is so versatile that it can be used for almost any conflict. I have not tried it for western gunfight conflicts but see the potential.

This is the first time I have heard of you using 28mm figures? Is this because of the larger than life aspect of Doc? I have done many HOTT games where a certain character is given aspects of a Behemoth but is still the same size as the other figures. Ajax in the Trojan War for example. Maybe a tad on the bigger side.

Given that Doc was frail of health what is it about him that gives him Behemoth factors.

You make a good point about Doc Holliday being frail so why a Behemoth. I originally thought of him as a regular 15 MM figure and may still go that route. The reason for him being a Behemoth is due to his larger than life reputation and ability as a gunfighter. No, I am not going to 28 MM, as I will be using mostly the beautiful Blue Moon, 15/18 MM figures. But I do often use 28 MM figures for a Behemoth, as I did the giants in my Jadis, Queen of all Narnia army. For my Greek myth army I am using a 40 MM figure for Talos, because he was big and I couldn't find an appropriate 28 MM figure.

Darthfozzy, I will indeed be posting pictures when I get them done, but understand I am a slow painter and have to put this one in the queue, but I do plan on doing it as quickly as I can.

Believe me, I understand. I'm slow as well, and tend to jump around between innumerable projects. One day they'll all get done simultaneously! ;)

Drathfozzy, That is definitely me as well, but I love so many different armies and the lure is too much not to want to do them. I manage to finish one or two armies a year though, and that makes me happy, which is what it's all about in my book.

Same. The great thing about Old West minis is they are usually pretty versatile (they can be good for Western, Victorian Pulp, or even modern up to the 1920s).
