Currently I buy lots of Renn. Inks pack K 30mm x 30mm (18) $3.75.

I looked into Litko but was hard pressed to find 30x30mm bases on the site. It seems that if the pricing followed the logic of the other goods then the unit price would be higher than the metal bases I am currently buying.

Ideally I would like 30mmx30mm plastic or wooden bases for a better price per unit than 18 for $3.75. Any suggestions on a source?

I use 2mm MDF, I buy it in 8' x 4' ( for about £5.00) sheets and then cut it down to size with a table saw. You get hundreds of bases of any size you want all it takes is a little time.

Or, if you don't want to cough up the $140+ for a table saw, you can buy small slats of craft wood from a hobby store (or Wal-Martesque stores) and cut them using a miter saw for pretty much the same effect.

I use matte board, like they use for framing pictures. It's fairly cheap, and when our graphics department moved offices, I got a carload of scraps for free. Check the trash at a framing shop. It's about 1.5mm thick; I use PVA glue to double the thickness.

First I cut it into useable chunks with scissors, then cut that into strips with an old swing-arm paper cutter, glue the strips together in pairs wrapped in rubber bands, let it sit for awhile, then run each strip back through the paper cutter to cut squares or rectangles. I can make a hundred stands in an hour or so. I seal the edges with acrylic paint before flocking.

Litko 30mmX30mm is significantly cheaper if you buy a 100 at US$13.99. Less and they are roughly the same as your metal bases.

CD covers are cheap, stiff and durable but hard to cut.

I'm using cheap 1mm plastic sheet, the type of plastic used for small plastic containers. Vey cheap, easy to cut, reasonably stiff and very durable ... if you can find it.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I went with Litko in the 100 count 30x30. They were reasonably priced in that amount. Was roughly $19 with shipping to Ga.

I work for a blind manafacturer and make my bases out of offcuts from the slats used to make imitation wooden venetian blinds. The thickness is about the same as GW plastic bases and super glue sets to the stuff better then anything else I have tried.
It is good for 25/28mm but a bit thick smaller scales.
