So, I know NOTHING about ACW gaming and such, but a friend of mine is a re-enactor and I'd like to make her a small artillery crew diorama as that's what her unit does for her birthday. Any suggestions for higher quality artillery set that I could assemble and do a small diorama with? Just the cannon and the crew that would have been with it, some background details, nothing big or complicated. |

Sash and Saber Castings 40mm line has everything that you need. One gun with crew for $23.00 USD, plus shipping of course. Artillery officers and limbers further down the page. link The 28's are smaller and cheaper. Both sizes are very nice. You didn't really say how big or small and how much you wanted to spend |

Glenn, Check out these links below. Some are from my blog and others are not. It will help you get organized. In case you want to take an extra step, if you buy the latest Wargames Illustrated mag, we wrote an article about artillery, uniforms etc. for his branch of the service. This link talks about artillery in general:
link This one has a link to view an old National Park's film of artillery firing and infantry firing. For the artillery segment it show each soldier's role in firing a Civil War artillery piece which would be helpful in placing models next to the gun and what they did. link This last one is a Civil War Trust video showing you similar stuff and additional information. link Hope they help. I did one for a friend using the Foundry ACW – while they are nice, the larger size (and equally good quality) of the Sash and Sabre would tip me that way |

I did a 40mm vignette for my grandfather years ago; I think 40s or 54s are the way to go. |

As a suggestion, find out what type of gun she crews and do one of those. Nice gift. |

Agree. Over six years on bound to wonder if she did ever get her promised model gun crew and what figures were used. |
