This is Awesome! I have been waiting for these!

Ed, you have done it again! I have always wanted a set of rules for minature football using miniature football figures. I am more of a chess-type person and cannot stand video war gaming (I prefer war gaming: unplugged). Once your rules are ready for market, I will be snagging myself a copy so I can field my beloved Seattle Seahawks against the San Francisco 49'ers whenever I want! Go Seahawks and bring on the rules, Ed!

Excellent; I used to play 'Gridiron'(?) years ago, but it took forever.

Since it will not load for me. (I use an old operating system) I will ask a few questions.
Is this like the SPI game of one play per game?
Average number of plays for a college game is 48 traditional to 65 for hurry up offenses. How many per quater for your game?

Hi Rudy,
Multiple plays.
45 ticks on the clock per quarter, 4 quarters.
Completed passes, running plays, returned kicks, etc. 2 ticks.
Incomplete pass, not returned kicks, 1 tick.
Timeout reduces the ticks by 1.

So if pro figure a minimum of 90 plays. Games will finish in 30 to 90 minutes as experience grows.
Sequence of play is:

Offense chooses play and notes it with markers on the play card. Type of play and who's carrying the ball or catching the pass.

Defense shifts its defensive players as desired. 10 possible zones. When defense is ready the offense reveals play.

Line Play Table is resolved. If on offense the blocker in the zone is compared to the defender. Both players roll.

This could go to the Run table. Ball carrier versus defender in zone. That ends the run play.

If pass we go to Line Play Pass Table. Defender chooses the pass rusher and the blocker in the zone is used on offense.
Could go to pass table, QB throw versus defender's speed.
If ball is tossed go to Catch, receiver versus Defender.
If caught go to completion for distance.

Sounds like lots of dice rolling but it's not. You roll 1 penalty d6, 2 play dice each turn. If lucky you get 1 or 2 bonus dice.

Sounds awesome. I've been wanting something like this, too. My wife might even play this with me (her dad's a football coach).

About 30 years ago TTG or someone similar from the UK did a set of tabletop rules and 28mm figures. We could never figure out how to play the rules.

Fantastic – as a Brit I much prefer American Football to Soccer – spend many years watching it live in the early hours of the morning ;-)

Looking forward to this very much!
