My great grandfather was told to be a member of Saxon Uhlans during World War I. One of the tellings in our family is that at least the officer cadets (german: Fähnrich) have to provide themself with a horse. And a good military trained horse would cost the same then a great Mercedes Benz today therefore that was an expensive matter. I have no evidence if that family story is right but after seeing your figures I have a clue how my great grandfather may have looked like (no photos more available). Werner G. Elb |
