Just got some ACW Minifigs 10/12mm from ebay, enough to start a Longstreet Brigade (or similar), but will need commands, arty and cav in due course and the same again in 'enemy' forces.

How to the following ranges compare in compatibility with Minifigs?
1. Pendraken (old and new).
2. Magsiter Militum.
3. Kallistra.
4. Others.

Thanks in advance.

Magister and Pendraken should be okay although I hear the newer Pendraken may match even closer as it is reversing scale creep.

Kallistra is almost small 15mm (old school 15mm that is).

I think Blaze Away are larger too?

My figures work well with Starfort, the New Pendraken and Perrin. I use GHQ on the same table, but not on the same bases.

Here's an updated link to my 10mm ACW comparison photo. It should cover everything your asking.

Hey Bryan, did you ever get the guns and Frock Coated figures I sent you?

Royal Marine01 Nov 2013 9:37 a.m. PST

Thanks guys … Kallistra look positively huge compared to the 10mm weaklings!! I think Pendraken and Minifigs may well be the favourite additional troops as I am UK based.

The old Minifigs are on the larger side of the 10mm scale. They match perfectly with the "old" Pendraken ACW range – I mixed them on the same stand and you can't tell the difference. Pendraken still sells their old range in addition to their new range, so they will be the best bet for command and extras to integrate directly into Minifig units. They will also probably match up fairly well with the new Blaze Away figures.

They will be a little large compared to the smaller 10mm figures, especially on the GHQ/Starfort end of the scale. The "new" Pendraken range is slightly smaller, but if you keep them in different units they might be okay.

Cheers,

Christopher

PS – yep, Kallistra is essentially a scale unto themselves for some strange reason

Don't forget that GHQ have a metal that bends very easily. After three games my GHQ many of my French Napoleonic army lincantry became unusable because of the 'corn in the wind' look of muskets. I never painted their cavalry because the swords were so flimsy. Yes they are nice casting but not for me.

GHQ are closer to scale. Which isn't a good thing for bayonets, swords, etc. Lovely figures though and if you don't have meathooks like me and most of my fellow gamers, they are very nice.

I have not seen Minifigs for this period but simply love their WWII stuff. Mixes great with the 1/144th scale tanks out there.

Pendraken are simply great figures too. The old Perrin line which is part of Magister Millitum is really nice too. Don't forget to comparison shop on price too. There can be a significant price difference in some ranges. Pendraken is hard to beat on bang for buck and quality.
