Will cast and sell this 6 guys on next week.
How many you need them at first, Paul?

Sometimes will sculpt more poses. Not all cast will be successful also. Therefore with rank and file sets I probably will follow the way of Ian "Fighting 15s" – "Variants are provided at random".

Hi Sho, 2x32 man battalions. What's your plans re: drummers, officers, mounted officer and NCO? 64 figures in total if that's ok to give you a start.

To be honest Sho I think you only need 4 variants of trooper repeated. I think 32 figure battalions in 18mm are the largest and with 4 variants they can be spaced around an 8 man base so as to not have the duplicate figure seen close by. With an officer or 2 and 1-2 drummers plus NCO or even a mounted officer they will look superb. You could drop the 2 you don't like very easily!

As always my very best Sho, you have done a fine job!

Consider this done! On weekend I will temper last molds and casting begins.

On first command set there will be officer, standardbearer, drummer, NCO and two casualties. When all sculpted, then I made molds.
After this I think about second command set with different officers with different uniforms (surtout etc.) and set of fighting jaegers for skirmishers.

4 poses is OK for minor units, but for main bulk of main powers infantry there must be many different personages – skinny and fat, tall and short. This is one of the reasons why I start sculpting.

Hi Sho, sounds good. 2 standard bearers per battalion I would guess still yeah? Good on you with all the extra poses, 4 spaced around would do me but extra will be very welcome.
Cheers
Paul

Paul, your battalions have 32 privates without commanders, or 32 men with all commanders, drummers and NCO included?

I understand correctly – ideal russian command set of 6 figures for you is -
1 mounted officer
1 unmounted officer
2 flagbearers
1 drummer
1 NCO
?

paulalba12 Jan 2014 10:06 a.m. PST

Hi Sho,.p
Yeah that would be brilliant if possible.
I look forward to them.
Cheers

Today I succeed with casting approx. 60 privates. Now clean them. Rate of successful castings is 60-70%.
When for Murats I prepared only one mould per figure, then for infantrymen I prepared many moulds per figure. Speed for casting one figure increased as hell.

And well, Paul, then command set will be such. I understand, that most of wargamers use the same ratio as you? Then this will work for many people.
Von Winterfeldt, what you think?

paulalba12 Jan 2014 4:16 p.m. PST

Hi Sho, I'm not sure use the same ratio as me. As you know I go for the full battalions re: GdB rules.

The adding a mounted and foot officer I try to do to spice up the unit. If you can't manage an NCO thats no probs.

i would guess over time everything will come together with your moulding sculpting and materials. Best if luck with them!!!

So many are casted and cleaned from flash. One third of them behind the camera wait for cleaning.

Casting continue and figures are ready for sale..

Sounds good Sho, how do we go about buying the commands etc.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP15 Jan 2014 3:16 a.m. PST

For full command set I must sculpt one more flagbearer, mounted officer and NCO.

paulalba15 Jan 2014 3:35 a.m. PST

Ok Sho, no rush. As soon as your done I'll pop in an order for a couple of battalions.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Sho,

I've been basing my units as Battalions of 32 men as well. That would be perfect for me.

What type of mounted regimental officer you preferred?
Flegmatic observer type or shouting choleric type?

Eclipsing Binaries17 Jan 2014 3:05 a.m. PST

Both ;)

paulalba17 Jan 2014 9:15 a.m. PST

Lol, both!
Na, as the troops are marching calmly a calm gentleman officer would look nice. Or whatever you think Sho?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP17 Jan 2014 2:28 p.m. PST

If both in one, then I do saluting fat officer..

paulalba17 Jan 2014 4:16 p.m. PST

Hi Sho,
I have been reading through all the previous post on your Russian's project and they look very nice. I will be placing a small order but want to wait until the command figures are ready. Can you tell us when they will be in production.

Thanks, Bill

Thanks, Bill. Infantry command figures are ready.
