I was looking to purchase some of AB Miniatures only to find this: An Apology to our Customers We have been wishing to retire for some time now and for the sake of continuity wanted to pass the production of "AB Figures" to another manufacturer in the UK. The first time, we thought an agreement had been reached when the designer, Anthony Barton, who holds intellectual copyright on the figures, changed his mind and withdrew permission for the new manufacturer to go ahead. This time, he has refused to consider the proposal with a second manufacturer and threatened legal action should it go ahead. He has not informed us of his intentions with regard to the figures, but we understand they are likely to be produced in Australia. The good news is that we hope that the AB Figures' Artillery and Bridging Equipment will continue to be produced here in the UK by a reputable company. This website will shortly cease to exist, but we would like to thank all our customers, both past and present, for their support over the last 25 years. Michael & Lynda Hickling On the Eureka Miniature site found this. link Looks like I can soon buy these figures in the US. |

AB figures will be produced in Australia in the not too distant future. Also, the good news is there will be a distributor in the USA, really good news indeed ! Even better news, the already most impressive range is going to be augmented by new releases ! Bring it on ! |

Where did you hear that there will be new sculpts? That news release says nothing at all about that. Thanks for any info! |

I love their WWII stuff. I just wish they would expand the line. Hopefully, now they will. |

"Where did you hear that there will be new sculpts?" Maybe they wrote Nic and asked. He's cool like that. |

"The good news is that we hope that the AB Figures' Artillery and Bridging Equipment will continue to be produced here in the UK by a reputable company." I don't mean to dwell on anything too deeply, but I find this an interesting turn of phrase. |

CC I believe Mr. Barton was right royally commercially shafted in the dark and murky past. So you can't really blame him for being very, very careful who he hands over his hard work to put into production. Clearly the arrangement AB had with the Hickleys has worked well but now he needs a new manufacturer/distributor. He's worked with Eureka for some time selling the other lovely stuff he's sculpted. It has obviously worked well for both parties. Good luck to 'em both! |

The impression I had a few years back was that AB would concentrate on WWII and that now the Napoleonics had moved to the Colonies they would not be added to! So here's hoping that we get some more WWII, (And Napoleonics of course!) Tally Ho! |

If only more companies shifted to Australia, world-wide wargaming would receive a genuine boost. Whilst our dollar has strengthened against the US dollar and other currencies (because our economy avoided the UK, Euro and American recessions) we are still an ideal exporting country when compared to purchasing against the GBP. Also, Australia Post is a world beater so for people like the US customers, you are buying figures on or around par for the exchange rate but our shipping rates are far cheaper. PS. Nick, we ceased being one of your lost colonies over 100 years ago, even before you lost the rest of your empire and ceased being 'Great';) |

My understanding, is reading from Eureka miniature's site under news, is that Tony Barton will be supplying new moulds & the first one's will be to expand the American infantry range. Later there will be more German's. |

So are the figures still being produced, and if so, how can we get them in the US? |

I read in the FT today that the AUS$ is now the world's most over-valued currency – now the Chinese have stopped buying so much steel, gold and coal. $118 USD BILLION in infrastructural projects have been cancelled in the last 9 months. Why is this relevant? It makes Eureka's price point very fair. I had expected to see AB at ridiculous prices on their website. It also means that the Oz dollar is due a tumble. |

@ Beaumap Bad news. The Aussie dollar is at a 6 month high & doesn't want to drop no matter what the Reserve Bank does. Official interest rates are 2 1/2 % but are expected to rise within the next few months. The economy is starting to boom as it switches from mining-led to a broader base. The result is foreign investors see the Aussie dollar as a "good thing". Sorry for the Economics 101 but I don't think Eurekas ABs will be particularly cheap for a while. |
