All,
Perhaps a crazy question here, but. Has anyone collected the actual episode "scenarios" from the "Combat" TV series? I've watched a few recently, and tried to play out the scenarios with some success. I wonder though if anyone has done a proper compliation of them with maps, objectives, etc.?

Do not forget Gallant Men and Rat Patrol while you are working on the scenarios.

'The Duel' would be a good role-playing/skirmish game.

Ialso remember a episode where the squad had to coordinate with the Maquis.

I've watched them for scenario ideas as well but I have not done any sort of compilation. It sounds like a great project for you.

Skippy, "The Duel" is one of my favorite episodes.

I've done one-off games like this based on various TV shows, but the idea of collecting a whole series of skirmish scenarios from one TV show is really appealing. For each scenario, you could have a brief synopsis of the episode, descriptions of the forces and objectives, and a map or two.

Making the scenarios available online would be great, but I'd even pay money for an Osprey-style book. if the licensing fees weren't too high, you could even include photos from the shows.

Imagine these titles:
"Combat!" – Small-Squad Skirmish Scenarios in France for Wargamers
"The Gallant Men" – Small-Squad Skirmish Scenarios in Italy for Wargamers
"The Rat Patrol" – Desert Patrol Scenarios for Wargamers
"Garrison's Gorillas" – Behind-the-Lines Skirmish Scenarios for Wargamers
"Twelve O'Clock High" – USAAF Bomber Missions for Wargamers
"McHale's Navy" – Small Boat Actions for Wargamers

Okay, maybe not that last one. Oh, who am I kidding, I'd still buy it.

Mchale's Navy was as accurate as it could be-Ernest Borgnine was a veteran.
Convert Rat Patrol to Popski's Private Army.
Combat's tactics got repetitive-suppress with the BAR, send Cage on the flank with grenades.
And you'd need those M47 and M3 halftrack conversions..:)

When I tried to do a WWII roleplaying campaign, the players were part of a Combat Intelligence Platoon-they'd break off from a assault to secure retreating enemy HQ or convoy, phone exchanges, rescue civilians et cetera. They really hated artillery.

Combat is a great series! But the combat scenes were big-budget and a lot of them got recycled. They also fought over the same Californian vineyard, ravine, and ditch with a pipe crossing it fairly frequently. Once you get those locations mapped out, then they'd be used in a couple of scenarios each.

Google Maps = Korbel Winery will give you a lot of the terrain features ^,^

The big battles in the town are all the same back lot town, and I think mostly done in one batch of filming, then used in all the town battles.

I love the idea! Every episode has an objective so it is possible one game per show. The first five minuets and the last ten minuets of the show have the best action. Very small skirmish game for sure.

That backlot section was dubbed "Combat Village".

Oddly enough, I picked up a DVD set (Season 2, Mission 2) on the weekend and watched my first couple of episodes!

Back to your question, I don't think so.

I have the entire series of "Combat!" on DVD I bought from Costco 2 years ago and have gotten some great ideas for scenarios from the show. Yes, "The Duel" is a great RPG exercise, but if you want combined arms (infantry and tank), I suggest the episode "Bridgehead" which has infantry (of course), a tank supporting the American squad against a German squad holed up in a house with MG-42s and Panzerfausts guarding a bridge from falling in to the hands of the Americans. That is my favorite episode to play…

As for "Rat Patrol" episodes being made into scenarios, the entire series can be encapsulated into one scenario: a column of German M-3 halftracks and M-7 Gun Motor Carriages are attacked by high speed American jeeps firing .50 caliber mgs. The halftracks and M-7s explode from grenades and German soldiers jump out of the vehicles with their uniforms afire. The Rat Patrol then races back to base to get dressed down by their CO, then go drink at the local bar. End of scenario…
