Any suggestions on painting this unit. My questions deal with would they wear khaki tunics or Green? Would the belting be black or brown? What color was the shovel cover color? Thanks in advance. Jim |

Jim, Take a look here - link I would say for 1880, the tunic would be khaki in the filed, green for dress. Belting would be brown. Nick |

Jim, I did lot of research in the lead-up to my 130th anniversary "Maiwand Day" game back in July, 2010. In the end, I could not find a truly definitive authority, and went with my best educated guess, and -- where there was a choice between 2 different colors or patterns -- erred on the side of what I thought would look good. So my version of c.1880 Jacob's Rifles lay no claim to being absolutely accurate, but they are at worst a close-approximation, and IMHO do look good. Also, I commissioned a set of Regimental and Queen's standards from "Flag Dude" and was happy with how they turned out. If you're interested, I think you could order them from him, since the designs are in his computer. Same goes for the standards I commissioned from him for my 66th Berkshires, and 1st Bombay Grenadiers, for the same game. Here's a few pics
And one pic showing the unit deployed in action in the midst of a "Maiwand Day" game -- I believe at the first Colonial Barracks convention, just outside New Orleans, back in 2011
