I have a running version (WIP) of the new site up and going.

The new site also has a built in blog, which means that my other blogs will be disappearing soon.

I plan to integrate all external sites into the main website, so the blogs, and forums etc will be on the Angel Barracks site itself.

That will make it much easier to follow.

Though of course I have to learn how to make it all work first….

Please look at the new site (WIP) and let me know if you encounter any errors…

Michael.

Quick smooth and the pdfs I tried work ok. There was an issue about black backgrounds mentioned in regards to Simon's blog – TMP link – that you may want to look into. I haven't as I'm not bothered :-)

Thank god this wasn't a government created web site.

I'd make the fonts on the menu items a bit bigger. The words look tiny in firefox.

Much cleaner than you old site.

BTW the Bullfrog Amphibious Pick Up picture is a bit grainy.

Cheers

Navigation bar now bigger.
(I use firefox and they are OK for me, could it be that my screen is bigger and so the words are more easily read? – changed now anyway)

BTW the Bullfrog Amphibious Pick Up picture is a bit grainy.

That is being kind!
It is dreadful.
However painted pictures will be up very soon….

;)

Nice site Michael. Mind if I add a few observations?

Streetline is on to something. Some people find it difficult to read light text on a dark background.

Most of the text is centre aligned, this makes it difficult to read. Once your eyes have reached the end of one line they have to find the start of the next line. If it is left aligned then your eyes automatically know where to go. This makes reading the text a whole lot easier and lessens the chance of a user leaving your site.

The image gallery on the home page uses Flash which doesn't work on mobile phones and tablets. If you have another way to do this without using Flash then you should.

Keep up the good work, you are going in the right direction in bringing all the external sites onto the main site. Also, make sure you have prominent links to your Twitter page and if you use Facebook link to that too.

Hi.

Yes, the site will most probably be re-done in a more conventional colour.
Probably black text on a white background.

I will do some research though before I make any significant changes though.
I need to see how many people are put off and how many people like it as that says "Angel Barracks" to them.

I did try a Javascript gallery instead of flash, but the options I found so far resulted in a tiny gallery with small images.
Having tiny images that don't show off the models was a waste.
I am looking into other Javscript options.
For now I will stay with the bigger images.

Like I say, for now this is just so that I have a website that works.

I think I will probably re-do it in a style that matches my rules.
However I won't do anything until I have properly explored what this new software can do, it has lots to offer and it is all very new to me, though easy to use.

Righty…

I have changed the layout of the homepage.
Changed the font across the whole site and am in the process of making the paypal buttons smaller (just done the OKI scenery page) across the site.
Added some logos to the front page and stuff..

I want to try and keep it dark but not black and yellow as that scares some people off…

Let me know what you think.

Hi! AB, I found the initial page hard to read with the black background. When I went to the blog the script was larger so it was easier to read. The pictures seemed ok to me and as clear as any I have seen on blogs.
Why do you prefer dark background?
