Just noticed the ad for the game here on TMP. As a teenager I was an avid Dredd fan
comics and so on. First RPG I ever bought and myself and my pals just loved it. It had a great balance of writing/playing detective stories and all the futuristic sci-fi that comes long with
we had a blast
I'm wondering has anyone tried out the new rules? Any comments
good or bad
Thanks |

Great rules. They capture the setting: fast and brutal comic-cyberpunk-social commentary. Easy to learn and play, but with variety and depth. D10s only. 1-20ish models per side. They are/were available online for free for some time. My favorite sci-fi skirmish system (with lots of proxy options for miniatures and very customizable gangs). If you are a Dredd fan, this is a must. |

I have not, but one of my club guys has. He really dug it. I think we are all going to try it next month.

yeah I've been playing these for a while now (ever since Mongoose posted them on the site)and I agree they are superb, they really capture the feel of the comic book and most important for me they have a well thought out campaign system we reviewed the game on the Meeples and Miniatures podcast a little while ago link |

Are they still available as free download? Can't find them on Mongoose's site (I know WarLord was taking them over). |

I'm very jazzed about it as well.. very Necromunda
mixed with Judge Dredd.. like cake and ice cream
but a lot shootier. I have the book pre-ordered with Warlord and they now list it as "in stock". But, I think Mat S @ Mongoose said it's been delayed. So I dunno. Seems like the PDFs have been pulled, so maybe that's a sign the rulebook is available now..? |

I want to also say to those of you who don't know anything about the Mighty JD and his chin or don't care for such things. It's a very open system and can be played sci-fi or apocalypse vanilla if you wish. Demon summoning cults, renegade robots, mutant freaks, zombie hordes, psychic ne'er do wells, or just bad kids with guns.. it's got it all. Also vehicle rules, and squad/mob rules. |

It is still listed in my Library on "Wargames Vault". It has an update dated around 09/17/2013. Don't know if I can still download it. |

Hi guys, We have just received the first copies (pre-orders going out imminently!) and, hand on my heart, I have to say the new rulebook is the best publication we have done in 12 years, bar none. It really looks gorgeous. And, as other have said here, it plays really well too! If you were using the free downloadable PDFs, there is a huge amount of new material in here for you (though you will find the game plays the same – we reduced the amount of 'excesses' possible though :)), from new scenarios to new models and forces. Everything is far better organised as well, and looks really spiffy to boot! We are working on an all new free PDF right now, which should be available today or tomorrow. This is now a 'primer' PDF but, even so, includes the entire Basic Rules chapters, and enough to get you started with Judges and Street Gangs (juves and punks), hopefully tempting you into getting the full size rulebook :) There are lots of cool things com,ing out for Dredd over the next year. Just reading down the list, I see Orlok, a new Judge Cal force (including Judges in dresses and underpants!), more Brit-Cit, Demarco, vehicles, and oodles more

Can anyone compare it with GMCO? Loved GMCO. |

The rules for Judge Dredd Miniatures is quite different from the old Gangs of MegaCity One. First and foremost is that now the Law Department is a faction you can play, while GoMC1 was primarially focused on gangs you create. Occasionally in a GoMC1 campaign you could rat on your opponent and "Call in the Judges". This allowed a weak player some breathing room to rest up his wounded gangers and not suffer another hit from bully player looking for an easy win. Next is the combat mechanics are different. GoMC1 was a simple skill roll to determine if you hit. JDMG uses an opposed roll, similar to Rezolution. The damage mechanic seems similar to Urban War. Overall JDMG seems much more deadly to play. The game currently still uses the old pewter minis that were released for GoMC1. A few of them changed roles however. Aside from some of the specific units (like Judges and Fatties) you could use many sci fi ganger type minis to play this game (Necromunda, Combat Zone, Street Violence, Void 1.1, etc). |

I haven't played, but only read the free rules that were previously available. They seem to be a fast and fun set of rules. There are two styles of campaign games that can be played where you start off with a gang/team and watch them grow (if they survive). There are a lot of options for character growth. Alternatively, you can just play one off games with characters you create or specific scenarios you generate. The game does offer good flexibility while remaining uncomplicated. I think that it gives players stuff to work with and has room to grow further. I've added the printed rulebook to my must-buy list. |

I'm a little confused. I thought Mongoose had passed JD on to WarLord. I like the rules and already have a ton of the minis. Just curious who to ask the FLGS to look up (I know it's only two choices but you never wanna make special orders any more difficult than you have to). |

@Privateer4Hire its a bit confusing I know but in short, Mongoose are working on JD with Warlord games. Warlord handle the production, packing and distribution of the miniatures whilst Mongoose write the rules and get them printed however it means you can buy all the products from both companies, for your FLGS I would suggest they speak to Warlord or a distributor who deals with Warlord BTW if I have got any of this wrong please can someone tell me, ta |

Just found a Box set of Mega City one in the stack, minis still bagged. Will have to look at these rules. |
