So, a friend of a friend organises a 7-night cruise of which my wife's best friend decides to go; this means we are going to. By a twist of fate, all the dads that went (6 of us out of 31 in total that included 16 kids 5 to 10 years old) were into gaming in one way or another. Some were acquaintances, some had never met. We all brought different games to play. Being a historical miniatures gamer I took along some figures. Mighty Armies is fast and fun and we got in a game. Read about some of the other games we played – Munchkin, Family Business, X-wing – and a short AAR on the Mighty Armies game. The gaming and the cruise was absolutely fantastic.

The full writeup is here:

Hey Shaun, sounds like a good cruise. MAA, lots of bows for the Persians, hmmmmm, I remember that well :-)
I also bought X-wing…..finding it hard to stop myself getting the Millenium Falcon every time I go to Ace comics.

Cheers Andy :-)

Yes, X-wing is loads I fun. I resisted looking up all the extra things you can buy but reading AARs shows all the new shiny stuff that is available.

I was on the Greek side as the bows might have been overwhelming but having them all Shooting-1 helped limit how effective they were in our games where the Sparabara were all Shooting-II.

Must catch up sometime as I missed you at Muster. Things have been hectic at work, which is why is has taken 2 weeks to writeup the cruise report.

Looks like fun. I actually work quite high up in the cruise industry.I don't know if you realize, but the ship has function rooms which can be blocked in advance for free, 8 ft tables, F&B set ups etc, all for group bookings. Is there any interest out there for this kind of thing? Groups can be as low as 10 cabins. With the pricing of cruises these days, its proably as cheap as a weekend in a hotel, and all the food is included. It could also be combined with historical days in port, I'm thinking Rome etc. not too much in the Caribbean, but again the wife and kids could go out for the day and leave their dads to have their fun. Venders can also be accommodated.
If there is any interest let me know and I can get some approximations out there. If you want ultra cheap, early December is the best time. contact me either here or at jez61ATyahooDOTCOM

Perhaps I should add as full disclaimer, I don't make a bean from ticket sales, so I have no financial gain in this. If you gamble like a maniac and your wives can't keep out of the jewelry shop then I'm quids in though!

Hmmm. Did not realise about the function rooms. That is a very good tip if we ever go again.

Hi Shaun, to get access you would probably have to do a group booking, not as an individual. Not sure exactly how P&O operate, but I imagine its similar. If you do decide to go again, drop me an email and I can get you some details.
