Does anyone know where I can obtain maps of the battle that gives unit locations, dates with the frontlines displayed and terrain?

Tim Tilson asked me to post this for him (he browses, but is not a member):

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

For the past fifteen months, I have been researching the fighting at Kohima and Imphal to to produce a book of scenarios using the Fireball Forward rule set. Here are my recommendations on sources:

Kohima Robert Lyman. Osprey Campaign 229. Short but good. excellent bibliography.

Japan's Last Bid for Victory, Robert Lyman, Very good.

The Battle of Kohima, Arthur Swinson Standard

Not Ordinary Men, John Colvin Standard

The War Against Japan MG SWoodburn Kirby. Offical history. Pretty good. Good maps. Avaiable in paperback.

The British Army in the Far East Alan Jeffreys Osprey Battle Orders 13. Good map of Kohima.

From Kent to Kohima, Stanley-Clark, Edward, and Tilliot, A.T. WWII Bn history of the 4th Bn West Kents.

Suggest you get these thru the inter library loan program at your home library. Second hand copies can be had pretty cheap thru an internet book buying service.

The writer asked for locations of the units during the siege. In none of these did I find a map with unit locations or lines. The companies of the West Kents were rotated around a great deal. You would have to read a narrative and then plot for the day or days you wanted. Also by the end of the siege, the battalion had collapsed the four companies into two.

Feel free to contact me at hsmlydia@msn.com for further discussion as I check the board intermittently.

Good luck.

Tim Tilson
