"This book describes and illustrates the development of German Navy seaplane fighters in WWI with text, 223 rare, contemporary photos, nine color photos, 27 color profiles, five evocative paintings, and tables of information including production quantities and serial numbers of aircraft and technical specifications. The origins and evolution of each subclass of naval fighter, including single-seat floatplanes, single-seat flying boats, two-seat biplanes, and two-seat monoplanes are discussed in chapters for each class. German naval fighter production and procurement strategies are discussed in the context of the German strategic situation. In addition, the book includes 1/48 scale drawings of eight aircraft types (the Brandenburg KDW, W16, W19, W25, W33, and W34 and the Rumpler 6B1 and 6B2) in its 150 pages. It is of interest to aviation historians, enthusiasts, and modelers."

Look here Tango01 – I'm supposed to be filling the house with less stuff, not more! That is a beautiful book. There's something about seaplanes, and biplane seaplanes are really special. Ah well, Christmas is coming, isn't it? Thanks – I'd have never found that on my own ('cos I wasn't looking !) |

Its a great book. Picked up a copy last month. And Shapeways provides many of these aircraft in multiple scales. (I'm working on a pair of KDW as well as a Brandenburg CC and a W.18 for the Austro-Hungarians. All in 1/144) C'mon, 20thmaine, you know you want them. |

Amazon reveals several similar titles by the same author. Very interesting. Shame this centennial series isn't available as a bind up. Tim |

Biplanes – and seaplanes – I just have an innate love for 'em. Me too! I've got some Macchi M5 and Short 184 floatplanes teed up on the painting table. Mishima – you mean as in printed? Because I bought a soft cover version of this recently on Amazon. |

By "bind-up" I meant several of the titles all together in one book. Like when you get a series of comics together – sometimes this is referred to as a "trade paperback". I noticed the subtitle was "A Centennial Perspective on Great War Seaplanes: 2" there is also "A Centennial Perspective on Great War Airplanes and Seaplanes: 1" It would be nice to get all the parts in one book. But I doubt this will happen. |
