the Rings" to Disney Parks? "Yes, that's right. It sounds like Disney and Warner Brothers have either signed or are very close to singing an agreement that will bring "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" movie-inspired areas to the Disney Parks. This comes on the heels of rumors that it would be Universal that would acquire the theme parks rights several months ago

Yeah. The Studios area needs a major overhaul. Cars rides didn't interest me. LotR and SW is good. |

Tolkien once said (in response to prospective illustrations for a U.S. edition of 'The Hobbit'): "If Disney touches it, I will revoke copyright." Sigh
. Just saying. Huge skullz, elf-boobs, and eldrich-exploshuns(TM) would certainly add to 'the happiest place on earth'

Today's Disney isn't remotely the same as during Walt's day. They own Star Wars and Marvel now. They have retro looking Mickey cartoons that are very, very edgy these days too (don't approve of this take on Mickey at all btw) They have not been an animation company in some time. They are mostly entertainment with live acting now. Pixar makes animated but they aren't Disney. When was the last animated Disney feature film you saw? |

> When was the last animated Disney feature film you saw? Lilo and Stitch. I think the last one they released was "The Princess and the Frog" which was quite a while back. I do turn on "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" from time to time, just to see Goofy, the world can never have enough of Goofy. |

I will agree that 'today's Disney' is not 'yesterday's Disney', but I find the former just as repulsive as the later, if not more so. Of course, I don't think that Peter Jackson has done JRRT (or film making) any favors either, and Lucas and The Mouse deserve each other. Lucas sold his own baby to Disney (after butchering it himself), but I somehow doubt that JRRT would approve of his work being treated in the way it has by PJ, or would be by 'today's Disney' (or most other media groups of our time which represent what JRRT would have called "Mordor among us"). Your mileage may vary, and since the 'law' is on the side of Disney/PJ/money/popular demand I am certain that we will get as many action-packed LOTR/Hobbit(TM) rides and movies as we expect as demanding consumers. And for the record, I think Goofy is great. |

Yeah. The Studios area needs a major overhaul. Cars rides didn't interest me. LotR and SW is good. Huh. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Cars area at California Adventureland. To each one's own. I happen to like DIsney's work from almost all eras, appreciating the pieces for what they are— light, hope-filled entertainment. I also like the Peter Jackson films; though not perfect, they are amazing interpretations of the novels, with stunning visuals and moments that do rise to the same poignancy as the books. But those are films, not theme parks. Despite any quarrels one might have against the films, there is no question that the most experienced company at creating and operating theme parks remains Disney. If you're gonna do a park, they're the way to go. |
