I'd like to know if the Dremel Workstation (drill press for the Dremel tool) will work with a Sears/Craftsman cutting tool. It looks just like a Dremel, and I assume it is probably made by them. The model unit of the one I have is: 572-610530 I don't see it in the manual, or on the box as being compatible, but assume it probably is. Anyone else using one of these with their Dremel Workstation model 220? |

The Dremel Workstation is dreadful. The seat for the Dremel moves from side to side by a good couple of millimetres when in use with anything harder than cardboard. (Yes there are a couple of small screws to tighten the seat up, but they are next to useless.) |

A proper drill press (bench mount) can be purchased for around $70 USD-$140, at your local DIY stores, or even Harbor Freight. I bought mine from Amazon.com -- love it. I use mine for more than gaming projects, as they are quite handy. For precision drilling, they cannot be beat. I picked up a Vise-Grip type clamp, which bolts onto the drill press table, for around $7 USD, which allows me to clamp materials in place, so they won't shift while drilling. All of the drill-press devices, for small moto-tools, all suffer from the same issues, posted in customer reviews: they don't drill accurately, as the bits drift a few millimeters, so there is almost zero precision when using them. Think about it, as you may realize it will serve for more than just gaming needs, and that may justify a better quality drill press. Cheers! |

If the 'nose' of the motor tool unscrews then it will most likely fit. There are heaps of Dremel knock-off motor tools out there as well as knock-off accessories. For both brand name and knock-off accessories take a look at Micromark. I have found the Workstation of more use for just holding the tool at a convenient position leaving me with two hands free to control the piece I am working on – sanding, grinding and cutting off usually – but there again I have 2 dedicated drill presses and a couple of stands that take a power drill if I need portable. |

Thanks for the info. That's saved me a bit of money, and frustration, since I need accuracy. Drillbits wandering a few mms, side to side, won't do. Sounds like I will do just as well using the old Mk. 1 hands, and pin-vise then. |
