Does anyone have any pictures good descriptions of the terrain involved in the battle of Chinese Farm. I know that there were some irrigation ditches and buildings but how extensive were they? Did they impede vehicular movement? It is still very difficult to find maps to design scenarios. I am trying to put together a game for the 40th anniversary. Any help would be appreciated. |

link Not totally sure this is Chinese Farm, but looks like a likely candidate. Hard to see in the small format, though. Copy it to a Word doc and enlarge it.
This shows the terrain around Chinese Farm more than the farm itself, but should be helpful. |

There is a combat study done by John McGrath called crossing the line of departure. One section is about Chinese Farm. Two of his digrams, pages 163 and 165 are drawn on top of the topo maps for the area. The scale may not be detailed enough but you may be able to see what you need. It looks like around Chinese Farm and Ismailia it was fairly flat with scattered hills and wadis. |

If you can get hold of the Shrapnel games AIW variant their is a set of 1:50,000 mapping for the Chinese Farm area including the hydroponic domes which then also had a lower level of topgraphic detail under it as well. IIRC the free version has them in |

Pretty sure the osprey book on the YKW (it's two books, one on the Golan Heights and one on the Sinai) has maps, after all, it was the pivotal battle on the Sinai front. |

A lot of games treat Chinese Farm and the Crossing Operation as the same thing. The Action around the agricultural station was definitely small unit "stuff" supported by small amounts of armour, is that what you are after or the larger crossing operation ? |

There is a fairly detailed tactical map of the Chinese Farm vicinity in the Command Post Compendium published by GDW for use with Command Decision. It was published late last century but you can still find a copy here and there. I found a copy in my LFGS on the used book shelf. |
