I'm thinking of using 15mm Zulu for Far Harad troops; opinions? |

I would go with something more like Arab Conquest or Saracen figures to make them look more like the movie version. I've seen a few representations that look more like zulus but I'd go with the more common look myself. |

This is for Far Harad, not Near Harad. |

Not a bad idea. especially if you already have them painted up. If not, I think I would distance them from reality a little bit – not use feathered headdresses, paint the shields different. |

I have Zulus for the 28mm SBG version of the Haradwaith (warriors of Far Harad – black faces, red tongues, etc.). Nubians were an alternative that I considered or possibly Maasai but Zulus armed with lots of throwing weapons was the final choice. Relatively crude warriors fighting for Sauron 'cos their Kings were bribed or there's a good chance of loot! |

Blue moon in their 18 mm darkest Africa range has like 10 different tribes. Some look like Zulus or azandie for example. You can mix different shields also to make them look even different. |

As mentioned above, my only problem with Zulus is most people recognise them. Perhaps something slightly different is the go. link link link |

For 15mm I kinda like these guys for Far Harad- link |

I would back up Doug Redshirt and look at using the Darkest African range form Blue Moon, there is plenty of options for different tribal groups and different looks. I believe Old Glory 15s also do a range of DA figures. These will be my choice, when I get around to them. I will be using them Far Harad and a 'Stygian' style army. I envisage Stygian as a fantasy ancient Persian Empire Army who gathers their forces from a large and varied empire. |

Twilight. Have to wait to get home to view your links. Blocked at work. John, I like your Ideas, maybe ancient persions, still have an arabic flair with out looking like the Near Haradrim. BunJen & Doug Redshirt. I like Tribe #6 at Blue Moon. Great Ideas!!! |

Yea, I'd envision these guys as more Ancient Persian/Assyrian/Babylon as opposed to the 'Arab' Near-Haradrim, though mixing in ancient African models (Nubians, Numidians, Kushites etc) would not go amiss. -Will |

Several of my units will Xyston's great Egyptian Marines, they come in scale half armour and a massive shield! They are armed with sword or spear. Also looking at other figures from their Persian range a very good source of figures for the Harads |

Bun- I do not see Egyptions listed on their site:( |

The egyptian marines are in the persian range, infantry section of Xyston's site listed as spearmen: link |

Thanks! Those could work well. |

I tbink the "reality" would be that there were probably many different types of peoples operating under the label of 'Far Harad'. I think that any and all of the suggestions mooted would work. They would for me, anyway
