Hi,

I have a friend who is painting up some 28mm ACW figures, but would prefer to play small actions with a limited number of figures. Are there any published scenario books that focus on small skirmish actions as opposed to larger actions?

Also, if you play ACW skirmish, what rules do you use and why?

Cheers,

Christopher

Yes! Definitely. We have used Brother Against Brother and we have been playtesting 61 – 65 by Ganesha Games.

We liked the card draw initiative in BAB and the fact that within a few turns you know how to play.

We like 61-65's "press your luck" initiative system and the way they simulate skirmishers.

Check out scenario books at : link

Chris has written a book of Early War Scenarions designed to be used with Too Fat Lardies' skirmish rules, but they are easily convertable to other skirmish sets.

There maybe more rules on Wargames Vault. Good luck.

Yes -- the Coming Thunder book from Chris Stoesen is really good. Lots of scenarios with a variety of units. I'm running some games from it down in Georgia over the next few weeks.

Thanks guys! I've been gaming the early ACW (61-62 so far) over the past couple of year in 10mm, so this will be a change of pace.

Curious what you mean by "skirmish scenarios". Are these small scale battles? Or are they actual skirmishes, perhaps even fought at a 1:1 scale?

These are also excellent:

I mean 1:1 scale small actions. The friend who started collecting probably won't want to be pushed into a large project, and frankly I can't see myself doing more than a couple dozen 28mm figures – they're scary. ;)

Brother against Brother is a very good, fun and easy to learn game. Scott Mingus's scenaro book on Gettysburg skirmish action is excellent, but unfortunately, Volume 2 has not been released yet. I had the fortune of test playing some of the 2nd volume games and they were excellent and fun! Hope this book will come out soon!

I too anxiously await seeing Volume 2 in print. The proofs looked terrific!

Is the first Gettysburg skirmish action scenario book still available Scott?

I think the publisher, Ivor Janci, may still have some copies on hand, Darkoath.

Hi guys. Question on this old thread. Are the Brothers Divided Skirmish Scenario books still available anywhere? I cannot find them on anywhere on the interwebs.
Thanks,
Matt
