Attended the STAB club ACW day today. We played each game with two players per side. That means a full army corps. It was a great experience with one ally and two opponents. I found that the "doubles" gave a more social aspect to the game, along with the realism of relying on another commander to support/help you out.
Some games may have too few units to share, but with 16 or more units per side both players have much to do. So, do you enjoy doubles games(if enough people are available) or prefer solo? Of course sharing prizes is difficult!!

Maybe rules might have a lean toward it??

Having attended the previous six CWB days (yep it has been going a long time) I thought playing as doubles did give it a good twist. It was nice to see so many figures on the table (although not so nice to see so many of my Union brigades skedaddle every time those damn Rebs showed them the bayonet!).

In both games I played having a full corp on the table made it hard to try and turn the flanks as each zone had a division. The other advantage is that of course should you lose you can blame your partner!
As for the CWB rule set – the large game lends itself to doubles or even three a side so can be a very social game.

I had a good day and had two great battles, good banter and a nice lunch – thanks again Miles for organising it. I'll be attending again next year.
