This is an interesting link about South American Wars. In this case, the bloody infantry assault to the Paraguayan trenches of Curupaity. Unfortunally in spanish, but there are many usefull uniforms pics for those who wargame the Triple Aliance War. Even a good map of the assault.

A very interesting link. Thanks. The anniversary was on September 22nd, so your posting is timely. One bit of trivia. You notice that many of the pictures are paintings by Candito Lopez. He was an Argentine officer who lost his right arm at Curupaity. He was discharged and learned to paint with his left hand. |

Glad you enjoyed it boys. Yes my freind, I know about Candido Lopez. I had the book with his draws and paints. There is a very interesting film (documentary) made by a Argentine guy ( a young one) who follow the path of Candido Lopez and the Argentine Army up to Asunción-Paraguay. It's amazing how things (landscapes) are exactly the same up today and how others had change A LOT. For example, Curupaity trenches had desapeared mostly under water. He travel and interview old people who still has memories from their parents about the war. I buyed it and send it as a present to my friend Uwe Wild this year. Amicalement Armand |

I also have a book of his paintings. My plan is to be in Buenos Aires next July. I understand two museums have his paintings on display. The film you mention is on YouTube and it is, indeed, very interesting. Of course, my Spanish is "muy mal" so I am sure I am missing most of the value. |
