I've done a brief review of this new book by Anne Curry and Glenn Foarde, which uses all the recent archeological finds, on my blog.

Link here if anyone's interested . link

A thoroughly recommended publication.

Yes, thanks for the review.

I expect that I could find it through a web search, but do you have a link to the book at the publisher's website?

Found it!

an excellent summary, Simon – I think you have done a great job of boiling it down to the essentials.

For those not familiar with the archaeology, the book is an essential guide. I was less happy with the 'battlefield found' chapter … Having demolished everyone-else's theories Foard and Curry are more than coy with their own. They don't really nail things down at all.

Now I am sure there is a valid argument that says 'we have found the battlefield, just we can only speculate on orientation and deployment' … well, yes, but people will want to know – and it seems to me after all that text, the authors ought to be clearer what they think happened (and given the number of illustrations, perhaps clarify it with a diagram …

So … a good blog entry summarising a somewhat disappointing book.
