Just posted pretty much the same post to the AWI message board. Have a good number of 15mm painted ACW troops. Know Fire and Fury, Volley and Bayonet, not that keen on Johnny Reb. Was hoping to get some rule recommendations. I like a game rather than a simulation. Also like things on a larger scale. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Longstreet from Sam Mustafa

Isn't Longstreet divisional?

Fire and fury surely.

Black Powder works well for it.

On To Richmond.

F&F is a favourite of mine, but it isn't a quick game. Black Powder is your best bet, but I've yet to get my hands on Longstreet.

I always enjoyed F&F. I would love to try Longstreet--Mustafa's recent games have all been good. I would also second the black powder recommendation.

Another vote for On To Richmond. If you want to do a multi Corps sized battle use a brigade as the base group.

Fields of Blue and Grey. Great for divisional games – and free.

On To Richmond all the way. Easy to play and easy to teach to others.

Have you looked into Altar of Freedom? it has just been released and the mechanic is really intriguing. Large scale oriented, written for 6/10mm with an easy adaptation for 15mm, especially F&F based.

Longstreet has replaced Black Powder as my primary ruleset set for ACW. It plays fast and is very easy to teach.

Regimental Fire and Fury remains the set I use for a more detailed gaming experience but it works best with players who really know the rules
